I really like our receivers. Two big studs (Smith & Fitzgerald), a waterbug (Samuel) and plenty of others in between. I think both studs play on Sunday's some day.

Very good bright spots, especially down the stretch. However, Lamar was the man. About 500 yards, NO fumbles, NO sacks despite poor line play. Seemed like he always made the right read. Very smart player last night.

Samuel was under utilized yesterday and pretty much during his time here. With Purdue spying LJ - the underneath stuff was open all day.

LJ is awesome and his accuracy seems to have improved but, he's still too prone to look way down the field and force things rather than take what the defense is giving you.

Down the field was all they were giving him. He was being spied all game and they stacked the box. Running game was non existent................again................

Not really a fair statement about the running game. LJ ran it 21 times for a 107 yards. Reggie only got 6 carries; ran for 33 yards which is a 5.5 ypc and he scored a rushing TD. The only other player who ran the ball was Smith who did not produce with his 5 carries. 8 yards for 1.6 ypc

46 passes - 32 rushes. We do need better balance. That I agree with.

Stats in isolation can be misleading...

Give the ball to Reggie twenty times in that game, and let's see what his ypc average would have been. A reason Reggie (or Radcliff last year) can post a good average is because the defense is keying on Lamar.

If the defense walks up to the line thinking Reggie is going to run the ball, look out for poor Reggie...

Unfortunately I think the game plan going in was to prove that LJ could pass the ball. Early on I thought he could have run a lot more but settled on passing. When we couldn't run with reggie and Jeremy, LJ decided he had to used his legs.
