Briles' offense

[18IsTheMan]

Has produced 57, 45, 34, 18, 34 and 38 points. Have scored 34+ in 3 of 4 SEC games.

I periodically see fans still questioning his offense on social media, though.

[Go Gamecocks]

Seems some "fans" think being a "fan" obligates them to post ignoramus comments on social media.

Offense has been fine but the big pass plays allowed by the defense have been killers.

[kidrobinski]

The plays are there pretty much every time. Not flashy but we’re getting more workable 2nd and 3rd downs consistently, keeps the sticks moving. Keeper in my view.

This. Briles ain't the problem. I've found the offense and him to be refreshing. I like the way he conducts himself on the sidelines.

It's easy to say "a play here or there" but in our case it's literally been less than a handful of plays being the difference between 3-3 and 5-1.

How much of that is poor scheme/coaching v. talent gap?

[RUMMENIGGE]

Could have put up ten more points against Gators if it were not for the overthrown flea flicker and missed wide right field goal attempt in first quarter. I will say even though with the two missed opportunities I am very pleased with Sellers in the last two games and Orsan can be trusted to convert points in crunch time.

Other than Sellers challenges throwing the ball in some games (which is on him), what could fans be complaining about with Briles's offense?

Those are the fans that I shake my head at. If you don't know you have a good thing when you get it, and you just Beeeetch to be beeetchin, then it has to be a long, tough life for them.

[Guy in the Back]

The only problem for me is the getting cute on some of the short yardage stuff. Other than that, it is good stuff.

And I would wonder if that is Briles, or a head coach trying to earn the "Beamer ball" moniker.

Actually, if we're not careful, he may move on before we can make him interim coach.

How would you pesonally be careful in this situation?

Would you ask DC White to intentionally flop so we lose games in grand fashion?

Would you also send money to the AD to help pay a huge buyout they've stated they aren't going to pay?

All in the hopes that Briles might translate to a good head coach.

Just not sure what being careful means here?

It seems to me you would want to simply pay him more to stay in the position he seems to thrive in and hope the defense continues to evolve.

This is the first real offense the Gamecocks have had since the Spurrier days. But that is just me.

I would like to see Briles around for a couple years. Let's see what happens.

Briles is doing his job no questions asked.

[Guy in the Back]

And doing it without a bunch of takeaways by our D. Making tge most out of the opportunity with the ball.

They averaged over 30 points a game in 2022 (32.2) and 2024 (30.5). Let's see if they can do that again this season because we're hitting the meat of the scheduel ad the two routes at the beginning of the year have the numbers a little skewed right now.

I think Lurker is just trying to inject some humor.

Ha, You handled that for him. Good to see you Stock.

Stock, you've been away for a while. Meet Roo, the latest incarnation of ward/coopie.

Thanks for the info my friend. Thanks for making me aware.

Truthfully, given the remarkable turnaround, I'm confident other programs will be reaching out to him. We're averaging 15 ppg more than last year. That's unreal. And the #s aren't just beefed up against nobodies. We've had 30+ in 3 of our 4 SEC games.

Yes. If Shane is smart, he takes half his salary and gives it to Briles to stay.

Briles offense is ranked 17th in Total Offense. That's excellent. But what stands out to me about Briles is that he recognized Clements skill as Offensive Line coach and, thus, brought him to SC with him. Our line play is miles better under Clements than it was under Teasley and company. That tells me all I need to know about Briles.

[PrestonyteParrot]

A productive rushing attack makes a huge difference in the way Sellers is able to operate as the QB.

Yep, sacks are WAY down.

Yessir.

Witness the lauded rocket infused 24 season and the no rocket 24 bowl game that some still have their panties in a wad over. It is not just a huge difference, it is THE difference.

The way you're still going on about it, you must count yourself as one of those with wadding issues.
