Pardon me for not knowing but does he have any connection to Purdue? That seems like trainwreck he should avoid, IMO.

Purdue alum, played there in early 80s as LB and long time assistant under both Jim Colleto and Joe Tiller.

Wish the NCCA would just go with Division 1 - Division 2 and 3 - have FCS teams decide whether they want to go D1 or D2. NCAA should reduce their bs attendance and stadium size requirements for D1 FBS level - 1/4 of all teams don't hit the 18K annual attendance average - stadium requirement should be 20000 minimum instead of 26K I believe. Also would need to do something with Title9 - related to revenue sports vs non-revenue sports

They passed him over once but in all reality I just can't see us being able to compete with Purdue $$$ and his background there - plus I think his wife;s family is there too and he has a daughter as a student. Couldn't blame him if that was the case. But if NW job comes open, he just may jump there too. He has a really nice Midwest and Florida/Texas pipeline for the Birds so he just might be able to get PU back to .500ish each year.

I think the Purdue job would be too tempting for him also. However, take this for what it's worth, perhaps it's pure rhetoric, but my son went on an unofficial visit to ISU week 1 and when Brock Spack spoke it was evident he loved the Bloomington-Normal area. He said the reason he loves coaching ISU is he wants to win championships. His words were: "You can't do that at Purdue, you can't do that at Illinois, and you can't do that at Northwestern. Only Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn St. could win one ". He even said MSU couldn't. He wants to be able to win a championship and he feels he will at ISU. If Purdue comes calling that can all change and quite frankly I wouldn't blame him. We were very impressed with him and the visit.

That's great to hear - I know he's always been appreciative of ISU for giving him his first HC job and the town and the student body love the guy (as do the alums) - The Stasch is epic. With what you said the only schools that might be able to lure him would be PU based on his being an alum and a former All Big 10 LB there. He gets a nice check from ISU and I would suspect he'll get another $50K-$100K to keep him around but ISU just can't compete with a school that says here's $750K plus camps, etc and you're at $1MM. Still you never know, he's got a nice thing there but then again I never thought Bohl would leave NDState for Wyoming. (granted winning 3 in a row under his belt and I am sure he was like ok done that been there what's next)

Not to generalize, but I can see former Northern Iowa, NDSt, Montana, or Eastern Washington, etc. coaches saying the same things during a FCS recruiting visit that left for bigger schools, more importantly bigger salaries.
