Sure we will hear a lot of rumors this week but fully expect to know something after last regular season game.

That's probably true. I still think he'll be the next coach IF Tyra offers him the job (if he hasn't already). We just have to wait it out. That's the hardest part. Waiting.

I can't fathom a world where Tyra does not offer him the job.

I honestly can't fathom a world where there hasn't already been communication between the two sides. Not saying anything serious has taken place but just a simple "wanna sit down after the season and discuss this?" kind of discussions.

If Brohm is the guy, I would think we'd start hearing confirmations either way Saturday evening.

My question is who do we root for in the Purdue-IU game?

I would say IU so the timeline is much faster without any bowl game to worry about. I dont think it will as coaches usually announce job acceptances before bowl games. Early signing day is Dec 18th I think so you would want to start recruiting for your new job before then.

I bet he gives Clint Hurtt a courtesy interview

Yeah I agree. Plus, if they become bowl eligible and he doesn't coach the bowl game, a lot of his staff would stay to coach the game which would hurt recruiting. Only having 1 guy recruiting isn't easy

I've seen multiple former Cards pimpin' for Hurtt on Twitter. He apparently had great relationships with the players when he was here. But I hope Tyra doesn't go anywhere near Hurtt; we just don't need the negative optics of even granting him an interview.

There is absolutely no way in the world that Clint Hurtt will even get a courtesy call from the new administration. Tyra has been working to rid the program of all negative press and it would be beyond dumb to try and go after a guy like Hurt who not only had a show cause but also is vastly under qualified to be a head coach.

Brohm watch begins Saturday night at around 10:30pm EST and quite possibly after their game at around 3:30pm EST because their last game starts at noon.

I would hope Matt Wells and Neal Brown would get cursory interviews but I would think the decision of who to hire has been made.

I wish Vince had not answered the question so directly when asked about Jeff in the press conference after Bobby’s dismissal.

That along with Jeff’s refusal to publicly say thanks but no thanks to constant questions about the job and his comment about the process, can’t remember exact quote, make it obvious he is interested.

With Brady being a freshman in high school this fall I would expect that Jeff would want his son to attend Trinity.

I have a hard time believing UofL and Shawn haven’t already talked about getting Jeff to Louisville. I would expect a decision to be announced on 12/6 or shortly thereafter that Jeff is coming home.

Rooney Rule, the college version.

Thats why Babers and Strong names were bandied about.

This is a strictly players thing and he'd better not receive an interview.

Not even with a 50 ft pole.

Who’s Shawn? Jeff’s agent?

He is more his attorney than agent. For what I been told is Jeff does his own negotiations, but has his attorney for guidance and counseling. This is a little different in that all these guys are Trinty folks, safe to say there have been conversations. I think the bowl game is important to Brohm and get a sense he would want to coach in it. My guess along with everyone else is we will know soon after Saturday's game. Don't see Brohm dragging it out.

The only real question will Purdue throw enough money his way to get him to stay? The word is Purdue is going to back up the Brinks truck keep him.

Won’t be much to watch except Jeff signing an extension to his Purdue contract... Good luck with your second choice.
If that's the case - that'll be two times in two years. There will always be a better job than the one with the boils that opens up every year. At this rate JB should be able to have you rubes make him the first 15M a year coach before the decade's up.

Desperation is thick in west laughayette...

You can keep him for that. Id hope we aren't that stupid.
Stupid? Remind me what UofL is paying for Petrino's buyout, Brohm's buyout (if he goes to UofL), and then Brohm's salary. Purdue paying Brohm 6 million/year would be a lot less "stupid" than what UofL is going to end up paying him if he makes the move.

Buyouts are buyouts. Like I said, I hope we aren't that stupid. However I realize you guys have never been relevant nor had any real coaches that better programs want to poach, so I could see you guys doing it. Good luck

Actually I'll laugh my *** off if you guys pay him that much because of all the Louisville talk. Saban only makes 7.5 and you guys probably won't even go to a bowl..funny stuff

Nice to see a Louisville boy con you guys out of 6 mil. Couldn't happen to a better group.

Money isn't everything and Brohm already has plenty as it is. If he wants to come home, and if the job is offered (and I think it already has been), then he'll take it even if that means walking away from more money in WL. He may not want to come back home, and if he doesn't, then he'll milk this for every red cent he can get out of Purdue, and that by itself makes it kind of funny. I mean he's not Nick Saban yet it sounds like Purdue is willing to pay him Nick Saban type money.

We’ve been as relevant as Louisville historically.

But here is a the question. If the mad cash is thrown at his brothers and assistants, does he care abort the money then?

Not a chance, little sister to the north . Does it make you nervous that Jeff will be home in Louisville for Thanksgiving Thursday ?Will be 53 and sunny in my old Ky home. Should be a good day for him seeing family and friends.

I hope we steal Brohm from you punks for the simple fact how you asses have infiltrated our board.

More or less... but Louisville did have two seasons (2006 and 2016) where we reached levels that Purdue has not. In 2016 we were in contention for a playoff spot until we lost a close game to eventual national champion Clemson. And in 2006, we were very likely to play Ohio State for the national championship until we lost at Rutgers on a last second field goal.

Your 2016 team was a mirage ... only beat 1 ranked team all year (Fl State .. who was ranked 2 at the time ... but also lost to an unranked NC team 2 weeks later and fell down the polls). Heck, you lost to Kentucky that year! Lamar was great that year tho.

And in 2006 ... you only beat 2 ranked teams all year ... and that includes Miami who was ranked early in the year (when you beat them) but was exposed the rest of the year and lost 6 games. The only other ranked team you beat that year (during the regular season) was West Virginia .. who only beat 1 ranked team all year (Rutgers). That was the beginning of the slow death of the BE as a football conference. And if you think an undefeated Louisville was going to get in over a 1 loss Florida team ($EC), well, no ... not happening (first year of Tebow mania).

You can play that game with any team at the end of the year, who they beat or didn't . The reality was the
2006 team had NFL talent as did the Rutgers team. Both were very good teams. Louisville would have stood toe to toe with Ohio State that year.

I will throw 2012 in there too, that was a legit team with a legit defense. There was a lot of NFL talent on that team. They never had a shot because of the BCS system, but UCF and Lousville won big bowls that year.

2016 Louisville was legit until Houston. Say what you up to that point they were being talk about for the playoff. Purdue has never been mentioned, when Purdue gets a mention get back with us.

The bottom line in the past 10 years Louisville has proven their ceiling is much higher than Purdue. Will that continue to be the case that is really the question isn't it.
