Rice wins. Thank God they overcame that phantom call that took the touchdown off the board. I was watching on BRTV and I couldn’t find it after rewinding it multiple times. Did they show the holding on CN100?

Congrats to Coach Badke on winning 3 straight in this series.

BR QB with two TD passes.

BR defense played well and will get a little bit of a boost next week.

Ben Somers should’ve had 3 TDs.

Scroll to the 1:48:15 mark for this “holding” call. If the referee called the hold on the block around the 37 yard line then that’s just pure incompetence. (EDIT: there is clearly no holding at the line of scrimmage either). This came two plays after a mysterious unsportsmanlike. Refs were just horrible all night. Crazy ball spots, phantom calls.

Rice persevered though. Defense came up huge, offense looked better in the second half. They need to feed Shaw as much as possible. Denver Warren’s debut is next week. Should have a huge impact on their interior D line.

Rice D was pretty stellar all night. Marist D was there every time that Rice could have put the game out of question, but somehow couldn’t. That’s a credit to Marist.

Myself, I don’t know what Marist’s best bet is at quarterback. Both QBs show promise, but if I were Dawzack, I’d probably roll the dice on the Sophomore the rest of the season. He’s a playmaker. He’s only going to get better and set them up for the next two years. They will make the playoffs this year, even if it’s at 5-4. They aren’t as strong as last year, but neither is Rice.

Somers definitely gained more confidence this week. Had a great run and a couple of beautiful throws. Rice’s fate lies on whether or not they can continue to string good drives together on a consistent basis. The D should be okay, but they showed a vulnerability when faced with the hurry up Marist ran with the dual threat. That seemed to be their problem with PC.

Neither has an easy road ahead, but Marist’s seems a little bit tougher. Think they will both lose to LA and MC. Marist to Naz and Rice a toss up with JCA.

Should be interesting.

Marist owns Naz until they don’t. Naz lost 12 3 or 4 year starters. They are having significant growing pains themselves.

Nice win Crusaders. Marist is just flat. Thompson leaving is really leaving its mark, they are missing that go to guy. Any running game for Marist this year? Haven’t heard of a RB.

I thought their running back looked pretty good last night on several carries. Offense was flat most of the night, but they showed some flashes. Not sure if Thompson is the difference maker, but it would open up their options more. The TE had a couple of nice catches where he held onto the ball after being clocked.

As a Rice fan I would hold my breath any time Thompson touched the ball. Not many players can make you do that. Enormous loss for their offense.

How many 3 & outs did Marist have last night? RedHawks might want to stick to one QB. I would go with the soph.

Somers player well. Overcame early adversity with pick six. Took some more big hits. If he can survive the next 5 weeks I think he will be trouble for defenses come the post season.
