It doesn't affect me on a daily basis. It will affect everyone in metro ATL. Glad the firefighters got out of danger before the bridge collapsed.

It is a zoo out here Snow Sled Baby! Traffic is snarled around the main perimeter that rings the city, because that section of the freeway which collapsed (I-85) just happened to be THE main connector from the Northwest into Midtown and Downtown.

So as folks look for alternate routes, the surface streets are backing up, as well as I-285 (the Perimeter) which is THE major bypass around that Freeway. There are only 2 or 3 other ways to get into town if you're coming in from the Northwest, which is where a large portion of the population lives. So Ga Hwy 13, 141, Cobb Parkway, Roswell Rd, and Peachtree Industrial are all bumper-to-bumper into the city.

We are gridlocked! I live in the Northeast suburbs, and even the East/West connector feeder roads outside of I-285 are also choked with traffic. It took me two hours to get to work today, on a normal 45 minute commute from Snellville up to Buford in Gwinnett County.(this was @ 6:30AM!)

What a mess!

Not to threadjack, but my brother lives in the ATL area - and yesterday my niece's kindergarten teacher showed to class drunk with a gun. Good times.

I saw that on the news! I would like to say "unbelievable" but with the current state of foolishness with people's beliefs and actions, I can't.

Maybe in her drunkard haze she missed the no firearms signs?
I'm guessing she was drunk and forgot to take her pistol out of her purse before coming in to the school? Or was she coming to do harm?

Glad your niece and everyone else is ok.

Yeah sorry. Never meant to imply she brandished the gun or stated any threats. I think the school found it looking for booze in her purse or desk.

One of my nightmares, had it a couple times actually, is that I'm going into my kids school for some reason and I realize I have my gun on me. Scares the **** out of me. Made the mistake of driving to Hagerstown, MD one day and it wasn't until I got to our destination that I realized what I had done.
