Aphasia is a weird diagnosis. Did they state the cause of the aphasia? Stroke, head trauma, disease? Word finding barriers are frustrating. But, Broca’s and Wernieke’s based aphasia usually have an etiology in some known injury. The rumors to this point were that Bruce was suffering from some presenile dementia. I wonder if the family thinks aphasia is a more socially acceptable functional deficit.

I think you’re probably correct. They are probably telling just as little as possible. Not that I need to know or that it is any of my business, but I guess they knew there would be questions.

Kind of sudden, isn't it? The guy has been very active in movies these past few years. Not great movies, but a lot of them.

Dude loved Cardinal Lanes bowling alley in Paducah when he was filming "In Country'
My brother nearly killed Willis when he was filming In Country. Willis was living in a house off of Stonegate subdivision in Reidland. My brother was driving home on Old Benton Road and saw this dude flying on a motorcycle through the road in Stonegate by the grocery store, and was apparently unaware he was approaching the highway. He saw the stop sign at the last second and power-slid about two feet onto the highway and my brother swerved into the other lane to avoid t-boning Willis. Fortunately (for both) there were no on-coming cars in that lane.

Honestly saw him in a movie recently, no idea the name because it was newer, and he just seemed off even in the movie. Hope it's nothing life threatening.

Always enjoyed Willis. Sorry to hear. I take it's a form of dementia. If so, don't know how life will be much worth living for him.

That’s a good point, idk much about dementia but this sounds like some kind of super type of it. I knew some guys that had dementia early onset and they would always say either please kill me or arrange someway I can die without being a burden to anyone. 🍺

my sister in laws aunt had dementia. In a rare moment of lucidity she told her husband she wanted to die.

Aphasia is generally a word finding problem. Kind of like ever present tip-of-the-tongue issues we all experience in some form. You know what it is, you just cannot find the word. There are strategies that can help some people. If that is what he truly is experiencing.

I’m pretty sure it was stated that it was as part of the progression of his dementia.

Both my grandpas had it. If I get it, I’ll off myself while I can. Absolutely horrible disease. Would rather have cancer.

Dementia/Alzheimer’s is just a terrible disease. My dad had it. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see a person you’ve known all your life to one day not recognize who you are.

I think you're 💯 correct. "Aphasia" is much more palatable with less stigma than early-onset dementia.

Some fifty or so years ago, I won the Paducah Bowling Association city championship at Cardinal Lanes in the scratch division. Some years later, I won a Midwest Bowling Association tournament there.
