I saw us make an overt effort to set him up once. I may have missed another, but I only saw one.
Absolutely no effort to get your best shooters shots, no semblance of a plan for Nance, no organization at all. Terrible coaching.

He just wants to run Duke things with a roster not suited for it. Nance at the 5, in a team that struggled with rebounding last year. Having to guard guys used to play with their backs to the basket and attack the boards. Mind boggling.

I'm sorry but Nance doesn't deserve a plan. He's just not that good.
Nance has to be one of the most frustrating NU players in a long time. I just don't know what he's supposed to do well. Doesn't play defense well, even though he has a long reach. Doesn't rebound particularly well. Definitely can't shoot. Doesn't have offensive moves to create his own shot. Just isn't clicking for him.

Yet he starts over Young, who is slow and awkward but plays hard and produces. What signal does that send?

Nance was often damn effective last season as a help defender. Kept a lot of people out of the paint with his presence behind Young. On offense, different story, he's a role player and it looks increasingly that will be the case forever.

Nance at the top of the key aint working. We need to get the ball down low,in the paint!

Yes, Nance flashed that help D late last season. Haven't seen it so far this year. He offered little resistance on D or boards last night.

Nance wouldn’t have been a four-star recruit and wouldn’t be so frustrating if his name were Pete Buie. A blessing and a curse. Being name Pete Nance, tho, he’s getting a Northwestern education instead of an Akron or Ball State or Oakland U or Murray State education, which is pretty good.

WIDE OPEN in the corner at the end of the game.
I’ll dispute that he was wide open. Audige sort of dribbled at him on the left wing, and the guy shadowing Kopp slid off to provide pressure, while Kopp actually stepped on the sideline as Audige tried to find space.

I would’ve preferred a forced pass to Kopp to a pull-up 30 footer over two guys, though, even if it resulted in no shot at all.

That said, it’s crazy that running Kopp off a screen wasn’t option 1,2, and 3. If you don’t draw a play for him, he’s never going to get the shot. And he *needs* to be the one taking the shot.

(There’s only one volume scorer who gets better in the clutch, and his name was Tre Demps.)

Yep, you get the ball into the hands of your best shooter at that time. And that is Kopp, by far.

agreed, I think the comment was more intended to be a dig on Audige. I don’t blame him too much for that last play, it wS blown already during the inbounding. I do get, however, the frustration over chase generally though. All of the gushing for the first 2 games when it was clear that he has glaring holes in his game from what has been played so far. His shot selection is not good. Really not good. On top of that I’m not too impressed with his shot either. He’s athletic and has some swagger, yes, but I don’t see the star quality that some have been pitching.
