For anyone interested, Deagostini and Model-Space, a company that specializes in monthly installment-based piece build model kits is offering a 1:1 version of the original 'Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back' Millennium Falcon filming miniature. It is completely film accurate and is just over 32" long.
The website is www.model-space.com
The kit is made out of high-quality resin and ABS plastic and will have a die cast metal support structure and the finished product will come in at around 24 lbs. So it's not some tiny little toy you may have sitting on a shelf somewhere. It will be shipped in 25 monthly installments at $59.99 per month. If you sign up for a subscription between now and Jan. 4th you get $1 shipping on each installment (otherwise it is $9.99 sh&h per month).
It sounds like a lot of money when you add it all up, but in the end you are left with a movie-quality prop that is film accurate at a fraction of the price it would cost if you were to buy it pre-built.
Here's the television ad some people may have seen:
The kit is based off the Master Replica's Millennium Falcon that was limited to 1500 pieces and sold for $5000 each (they sold out in less than a month BTW):
As you can see from the video, the finished prop is actually pretty large even though it's a "filming miniature". The kit itself will come with a poseable wall mount for the ship or you can also display it on a stand or on it's landing pads.
The only drawback to this prop is that it will require some glue and painting to make it look film accurate, but for those with even basic model painting experience this shouldn't be a very difficult task at all considering the size of the prop. There are a series of videos on Youtube that are produced by DeAgostini just on painting the finished prop.
Just thought some people may be interested in this.
