Burns Joining 2A Next Year

We successfully petitioned the NCHSAA to move down to 2A beginning next school year. I thought we would just ride it out in 3A for 2 more years but our ADM was 944 this year, definitely 2A size. I am looking forward to renewing our rivalry with South Point. I am sure Crest and KM will be nonconference games. It will be a big change.

You’re not playing all of the Gaston County Schools anyway (no North Gaston or Hunter Huss) so I will say Forestview if not Clover. Can’t see y’all dropping Crest.

SP still has 3A numbers, you think they will appeal to go back up?:D

McMichael and Morehead both have less students than Burns ... wonder if they won their appeals? That would be huge for Reidsville's conference and will eliminate some of the long road trips if they realign. Costly sending a tennis team on an activity bus for an hour+ road trip.

Would have liked for the South Fork to drop Lake Norman Charter and add Burns. Burns in 2a will be competitive.

They both did...but, it was told they will stay in their current conference for the next two years. My understanding is the winner of the McMichael/Morehead game (as a split conference champ) will get a home playoff game for the next two years, no matter what their record is?

So they are going to make the Mid-State 3-A now the Mid-State 3-A/2-A split conference? I guess the argument against realignment now is that scheduling would be very difficult.

Just what I was told? I would like to see them in Reidsville's conference as the county makes them play anyways. It would free up a non-conference game and allow them to schedule a South/North Stokes, North Moore, South Davidson...ect.

I could see East Gaston dropping y’all to make room for us. I agree. Would love to see a Burns-Lincolnton matchup.
