“I don’t have any respect for Roy Williams. I encourage [my players] to play for guys that will inspire them to be good people. If you’re not a good person, you can’t make someone a good person.” -- Brian Clifton

"I have no desire to talk to, to be involved with, to visit, to contemplate in any shape, form or fashion John Wall going to play for Roy Williams. Zero." -- Brian Clifton

HOF Coach Roy Williams folks. HOF Coach Roy Williams. I really feel he should have been in politics. He spins things so well. He could be a candidate, campaign manger or the press secretary.. Anyway you put it he is the ultimate charmer and spin anything to his advantage. When the scandal really started to become public in a big way remember him saying something like we've made some mistakes but the media is making a big deal out of it. Some mistakes? Really.? The man feels so entitled it's sick. He doesn't realize that he only people who buy this stuff is UNC nation. You know I just about feel I'd rather see his HOF membership vacated about as much as wins and his 2 NC's vacated. But to be honest I'm going to miss him when he leaves and I still believe he is a THR poster simply because I think he's so insecure that he would join that board so he could see what we are posting about him. He would make an excellent handler himself. ;):D OFC

That good ol' boy facade is slowly but surely melting away. Desperation has a way of bringing forth a person's character.

Must be a Photoshop. Mike Irby says "Roy don't deal with handlers." Gary-7 says "Bingo."

That is so delicious! I've read so many times about how Roy doesn't do handlers. I say times are a changin'..."Bingo".

Roy is beyond desperate at this point. He's grasping at any straw he can. His program is in a recruiting nosedive while the boys 11 miles down the road are as hot as any program has ever been in what many are calling the best class to come around in a long time. Sans the Hansbrough era, Duke has absolutely owned Roy and Duke will continue to dominate as long as he is here. He used to be a great recruiter which in turn, hid his complete ineptitude to adjust to the players he had and adjust in game. His recruiting luster is gone. AAU coaches as balking at the idea of their kids playing for a program which fails to develop its players. Its not just guys like Clifton who are saying Carolina doesn't develop their players, it seems to be a growing consensus around high school and aau basketball

This is Clifton on the right.

There he is in the back.
Which of the guys in the OP's photo is he? Has he aged that much?

Heel fans always find a loophole for justification. Wonder what this one will be.

Wow, reading this in retrospect is just so hilarious. Kyrie/Austin/Jabari/Jahlil/Justise/Tyus all say hello:

"Clifton has also not paid attention(apparently) to how the two coaches in question handle players leaving early for the NBA. At Duke, Krzyzewski has long opposed his players leaving early....

Contrast that to Roy Williams being very upfront with his willingness to give UNC players all the available information on the NBA. Heck, UNC under both Dean Smith and Roy Williams have advised players to leave even if they actually wanted to stay. Only once, with Danny Green, has Roy been less than supportive of a decision. In that case, Roy got over it and was on board once the awkward initial announcement was made. As best as I can tell Tar Heel players all love playing for Roy
"

The one on the far right. He's not the elderly gentleman. Pretty sure this is him just behind Wall's shoulder...

I'm sure they are rationalizing in some way. They probably think Clifton has changed dramatically at Roy's behest, and now the greatly dignified Roy could dare enter a room with him.

HOF Coach Roy Williams has been very successful in turning lives around. Before you know we will be talking about Clifton as the next UNC basketball coach. Just think of all the top notch recruits Clifton would bring in. Can't you just see the frenzy of the whine and cheese crowd as Clifton brings the Tar Heels onto HOF Coach Roy Williams Court. HEELS WILL BE BACK . OFC

Re: Roy Williams/Brian Clifton/Rawle Alkins

Huge. I love Roy. Knows it's way bigger than him. So many other coaches would have held on to that pride (Roy probably would have 3 years ago), this just shows he's a good person.

My azz. Ya know , the drug business is way bigger than me so I decided to start dealing. It shows I'm a good person. #carolinaway

He has turned a few lives around. I mean he managed to develop Graves and Hairston from being petty criminals to repeat offenders. He also helped progess Strickland from a shooting guard into nothing in particular. And finally, he turned McAdon't from a one and done to a "lucky to be drafted", and HB into the black falcon.

The man does have the power to change many lives. :)
