They should move programs like Corivan up to 3A or 4A. Sorry Murphy and Starmount your going to get robbed by late November and early December.
One thing that'll help Murphy is playing a tough overall schedule. Problem is Corvian I would imagine has depth. They honestly shouldn't be 2a I agree

How good is Butler supposed to be this year? I know they’ve got a strong reputation, but I don’t really know much about them. Corvian didn’t exactly blow out Harding, and Harding went 1–9 last season, so I’m not sure what to make of it.

According to MaxPreps Corvian had just 5 yards rushing. Butler may be down from what they are traditionally though.

Butler will be Butler no matter what, Especially when it comes playoff time. They were 4-7 last year as 30th seed and gave East Forsyth a top seed a run for their money lost 36-35 to East. The year before they were 12-2. I notice that Corivan might lack depth watch a little bit of on NFHS

Next week Corivan will play West Meck a 7A. program that don't even have a JV squad and Varsity roster around 35 to 40 players. West Meck lost about several players to West Charlotte.

Dang. I thought Corvian was 1A. Thought it would be them and Wilson Prep in the ship. Cause Wilson Prep is the Corvian of the East, without a pool as big as Charlotte. In that case, I don't see Prep not winning it, especially with there only being 6 1A schools now, it seems.

I posted on the 7A board.

Butler is a question mark. For those that don’t know Butler was a machine and was one game away from the west finals and beat the two teams who made the west finals in the regular season in 2023. Coach Hales retired so instead of hiring from within which they traditionally did, they hired an outside coach and it didn’t work at all. Some players left then that coach left earlier in the year. Butler was in danger of losing more players so Coach Hales came back to save the program. They did lose some players but they have a young team, so we don’t know how good they will be. I think they will be decent this year but really good if Hales sticks around next year.

Regarding the game last night Corvian was much bigger than I thought. Solid size and speed. Butler didn’t get many big plays on offense because Corvian had good team speed. In the second half Butler depth wore them down. Butler did have some issues running on them in the first half.

Corvian had 2 D1 defensive linemen coming back this year. I believe they lost all skill guys but probably can replenish.

Will Corvian play any other teams this year that could test them? Looks like mostly charter schools on the schedule the rest of the way.
