About to close on a house. Apparently it's not in an area of Lexington serviced by the city I guess. The seller currently has Republic. Not heard of them, but have heard of Rumpke. Wondering if y'all had any opinions on them (or others besides them), regarding prices, service, etc.?

The Paddock mostly only uses organic material and we compost. For those that do have waste, we have people that take care of such things. Ask Rafters.

This should be pretty far down on your list of concerns when buying a home. You pay, they pick it up.

I have Republic here in Louisville. They're fine, but like another poster said, it's pretty low on my list of things to worry about.

I think my rate is like $15 per month.

One thing I don't really care for is that they require you to have all trash in the bins or they won't pick it up. They have those mechanical arm trucks where no garbage man has to get out. However, they gave me two bins, so the only time it's a problem is around Christmas time with all of the damn trash from the kids' crap.

Pro tip: Keep a small dumpster in the back of your drive and set it on fire when full. Cheapest garbage removal method. You are welcome.

Be one with the earth. Throw it over the neighbors privacy fence. Nothing traceable though. Gotta keep them hands clean for the HOA.

Whatever you do just make sure you know their community service part of your contract. Can’t remember hours on each, but each one makes you pick up certain amount of hours of trash each month on side of road. Just ask before you sign up.

The last four years we've had private trash service. It's not that expensive and I prefer it to the service I've received from city/county government's in the past.

We have trash pick-up 2 days/week, recycling one day/week, and lawn waste 1 day/week.

Often, the competitors will pick up any yard waste, etc., so it doesn't even sit outside all week.

The only real drawback I have noted is that we have garbage trucks zipping through our neighborhood 5 days/week.
