London took less than contractual amount to resign.

Zero reason or motivation for Stoops to take less than the full amount.
For $4 million per/total of $12 million I think anyone can deal with any amount of negative treatment from a fanbaseOther than to get the heck out of dodge. If he doesn't want to deal with the crap of the fans and the media next year maybe he would take less to leave. Quality of life and all.

LOLA realistic buyout will be about 50% and that would probably happen if it does happen at all. Why? First, $6 million is enough money to live a very, very good rest of your life on. Second, Mark Stoops, I believe is a very proud man, and I think he will not want to have to be here in the midst of all the negativity for him and his family.
LOL
$12 million is a lot of dollar bills to stuff in your kids & wifes ears to ward off negativity. What world do you live in where anyone in any line of work would throw $6 million dollars down the toilet - for what? To get out of town & away from meanies in the fanbase? Get real, even the most fanatic Chris From Richmond type doesnt have the nuts to go up face to face & tell the coach he sucks... much less be a sub human & harass the coaches kids & wife. Worst Stoops gets is from his callin radio show, and that baby can be HEAVILY edited & screened.
never forget during the end of the Tubby era his 60 minute call in show featured 4 phone calls....all from former players.
I've been telling my UK buddies for weeks that I can see Stoops negotiating a lower buyout to get out of Lexington earlier...here's the only issue: what can/will UK be willing to pay for the buyout? I mean if Stoops is owed $12 million right now, that amount is not going to get negotiated down to a level that UK would be willing to pay. So Stoops is here for the 2017 season. After the 2017 season he's owed $6.6...would UK be willing to pay $3-$5 million dollars to buy out his contract and then turn around and dish out another $2-$5 million hiring another coach? I dunno. Stoops would have to be so miserable that he takes far less than he's owed to just get out of town. So buyouts can be negotiated but I can't see a scenario where Stoops doesn't coach through the 2018 season unless he just flat out quits on the program.
if only Minnesota would save us again!AND................. Tubby walked away!
Go Big Blue!
Which is only 1 of the reasons why this is a ridiculous idea. And people who think this way haven't even begun to consider how this kind of thing would affect recruitment of another head coach. If I was a successful coach with marketability, a school that dumped a Stoops brother without paying him what he is owed would be the last place I would consider.Zero reason or motivation for Stoops to take less than the full amount.
Nobody is going to walk away from 12 million dollars. Nope, naughty, ain't going to happen. I think we all need to come to the realization that the football program is going to be DOA for this season and next. September 1, 2018 is nearly two years away. There's going to be a lot of bad football played between now and then. I think what fans should demand in the mean time is a separate entity to be in charge of the next football hire. Barnhart has made it clear he is incapable of attracting and assessing potential candidates.
This program is not necessarily DOA in 2017. In multiple threads, I have already explained how the return of 19 incumbent starters can result in improvements in our 2016 team's weaknesses. But we have so many posters who freak out and call for mass firings after every loss that it will be hard for our dabs to think rationally about strengths and limitations of our 2017 roster while still wallowing in anger over losing on the road to Florida.Nobody is going to walk away from 12 million dollars.
