Texas Tech DC has the most expensive DL in the country courtesy of TTU alum oil money.

Hurts to say, but we cant buy a roster like he has to work with.

No Justin Wilcox but including actively employed coaches is crazy work too
With his contract, he's currently only making $1.25 million a year. Assistant coaches are generally paid out of the general athletics budget which is much healthier at NU than TTU. The Tier 1 coaches I listed are easily worth $2.75 million+, and NU can afford that. There's zero reason we shouldn't be looking to poach active coaches who are proven. I don't think our NIL budget is far off from competing with Texas Tech, especially if we can generate excitement with a home run hire.

We aren't close to being in the same league as Texas Tech for NIL. Very few teams are.

I'm not trusting their DC is anything special outside of the insane roster, either.

He had a sht Dline. Junior high level..

Firing him is a coward move

You keep saying that, but you do know there might be more to it than how the D Line performed, right? Look, I'm the last person to be defending Rhule right now, but calling it a coward move when you have no clue what all was behind the decision is a bit of a reach.

Agree to disagree I agress. I don't think most know our actual NIL situation, let alone compared to others around the country.

But he's done very well at multiple places now, most not being known historically to put together solid defenses.

And who's to say a few starters from one of the top defenses wouldn't join the DC if he left?

Some of the problem for us as fans is we’re prisoners of what we know. I’ve listened to Bill Busch multiple times and think he’s a very bright football coach. I’ve witnessed immediate improvement in the areas he’s been tasked with so I want him. BUT, I don’t know what I don’t know. We don’t know what we don’t know. I’m afraid our AD might not know what he doesn’t know. It’s why the hell I hope former NU players who have been around the DC candidates are in Rhule’s and Dannen’s ears.

Hiring a DC from another program may seem smart. Maybe not. I sure as hell don’t want to gamble on an NFL linebacker coach who has never been a DC. I would like demonstrated excellent performance of the requirements of the job even if at a lower level.

He could be good.

It's a fact that Texas Tech spent $8 million on their defensive line alone, while we are hovering at $20 million ... across all sports.

Hopefully that increases and we can run with the big dogs.
