I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up, since Alabama didn't even play in a conference championship game it was essentially a bye week for them the other 3 teams played a game, bama was able to get healthy and now saban is complaining about a short time to prepare for Georgia. This needs to change what a advantage for bama!!!

Don’t see the advantage from a preparation standpoint... they got 5 weeks to prepare for the bowl game to Clemson’s 4 weeks. I don’t see that as being significant.

It may have helped for injury purposes, which is what you are referencing, so that is true.

Ummm. A month is not long enough to prepare?

When you haven't played football against the competition in over a month, I think the advantage swings to the other team.

Keep in mind Alabama also played patsy Mercer in November. They have been recuperating for a while now.
A week after they played Mercer they played Auburn. I’m guessing they probably didn’t take much time off for that game.

Bama is going to be MNC (I think they nut kick Georgia)....I guess we have to figure out how to deal with it. Agreeing with UCF's MNC claim seems like a good way to me.

Simple.. beat Alabama. Stop complaining. The SEC got the two best teams in the country. Isn’t that what we all wanted when this playoff started? If it was the old system it would have been Clemson vs Oklahoma. We asked for a system where they proved it in the field and that’s what happened. They deserved that 4th spot more than anyone else.

I brought it up the moment they lost that Saban did it on purpose. They had injury issues and the extra time allowed them a chance to prepare and heal. If they beat Auburn, then lose to Georgia in the SEC championship they are probably left out of the playoff...if they lose to Auburn and skip the SEC championship then they make the playoff...they are still a dominant program with the best coach in the game..and are big favorites to win it again. It isn't exactly a travesty, more like Lebron getting away with traveling,

The problem is that "they deserved that 4th spot more than anyone else". They deserved it based on perception and the same goes for the other three teams as well. This system is a joke and as cheap as it gets, a poor mans attempt at a playoff. Conference championships are worthless, divisions are worthless, late losses don't matter and we limit it to 4 when there are usually 5-6 teams worthy of a shot. It's not Alabama's fault that the system is a joke but for all of his fortunes Nick Saban sure is a big cry baby.

This just seems too risky to me... I don’t think they threw the game. Just doesn’t seem like a risk worth taking. Instead, just beat Auburn and then Georgia. That’s the sure thing.

I just have a hard time believing Saban has this master plan to lose to Auburn and back into the championship.

I don't see Saban doing that either but Alabama was very beat up going in to that game. Losing to Auburn was more of a benefit to them than winning was.

One of the main criteria's for making the playoff is winning you're conference CG.

Therefore Bama Gump didn't win their division, you can't say they deserve it more than anyone else under that criteria...

If the committee told us this year that criteria didn't matter...That is why they need to move to a 8 team playoff and 3 teams could still be at-large like Alabama and UCF would get their shot without being snubbed.

Bama is on the decline. Sure they are still on top but they are coming down the other side of the mountain now. This year has been one of Nick’s Hardest year in recruiting. He’s not landing the best Kids right now. Still very good, but not a top 5 class. Also, they’ve had too much turnover of coaches/ coordinators.

Also, many people think their games are boring. Their team is too “business like”. They look flat every game because they expect to win every game. So they aren’t an exciting program right now. Just real boring. And many of my Bama fan friends see this too and are concerned. I’m telling you it’s close to imploding and Nick will jump ship the second it happens. A 9-4 season is coming and the Media will love it and mock them. & their program will look like a disease to recruits

SEC strategy-

Play conference games to start the season while complaining that most other power 5 conferences are playing patsies with only 1 or 2 real threats out of conference.

Then at the end of the year you play patsies out of conference to help heal your team before bowl season but everybody has already formed their opinion that you're the best.

Simplest way is to have 8 conferences and each conference no divisions top two in each conference play in the conference championship this is start or the playoffs next round would be the higher seed gets a home game. The championship games is at a neutral site one year Dallas next year Indianapolis

They should've just went with 8 to begin with and retained the BCS rating system instead of full on human ratings which is a problem in itself.

I think there are usually 5 or 6 teams that are very comparable at the top but in this system someone is getting left out. Beyond the top 8 I don't think anyone has an argument for being left out.

Not every SEC teams play patsy's in November but just about all of them do.
Georgia didn't play any non conference patsy but they also play Ga-Tech every year at seasons end.

Still thinking it's also an advantage in playing 8 conference games compared to 9 like the B1G and Pac 12 do.

Still think 5 power conference champs deserve to be in the playoffs regardless were there ranked in all honesty the CCG is a playoff game... Alabama and Wisconsin would be at-large and UCF was the best team that won from the other non power 5 conferences.

I don't really have problem with how things turned out...wisky played one good team all year and lost, Alabama did the same but have a much greater upside as evidenced by their fleecing of clemson. Nebraska benefited from perhaps the greatest tragedy in bowl history. Lost by 26 to Colorado, Colorado wins the Big 12, Nebraska goes to National title game...that would be like Alabama losing by 26 to Auburn, Auburn beating Georgia and Alabama going to playoff...the best four teams made the playoff, UCF needs to get invited to power conference.
