14th in Adjo, 60th in AdjD in Big 12 with less talent and limited scholarships.
They beat Kansas in Allen Field House. Not too many have done that.
Give him a chance. With NIL, building a roster at UK he will have much better resources to work with. He’s very intelligent. Almost became a doctor. He played on a championship team here, so he knows what it’s about. I will at least wait and see.

Is this supposed to make me feel better? That’s the literal best stat I’ve seen of Popes. How is this UK head coach material? How is it even top 50 options for UK HC material?

And our garbage Cal team that similarly got bounced in the first round is only ranked 5 spots lower at #23. What’s your point?

I’m not saying it’s a great hire, but it seems the big names didn’t want to come. If we have to take a risk on a up and coming coach m, then Pope is as good as many of the other candidates. I will at least see what he can do

Cal didn’t beat them when it mattered though, as has been the case every year of his career outside 2012.

Don't misconstrue this as some Cal defense post. Read between the lines, Mitch should have done better at a school like Kentucky. Hell his previous worst hire in Gillispie had a better tournament resume with 3 NCAA Tournament wins before coming here. Kentucky did not hire Cal based off his 90s resume so what the hell is your point?

Well I’d say we are gonna love and die by the portal. Not many 5 stars are gonna be knocking on the door. Not sure that’s so bad.

Hell, at least he made the tournament most of those years. Pope has been a coach for nine years and been to two tournaments with no wins. Can't believe I'm pining away for Cal and beating Providence

Just need to make sure he has a great staff behind him. Find a couple ace recruiters and let them do work.
