I’ll never understand how schools don’t get into trouble for hiring relatives of recruits. It seems like that should be considered an impermissible benefit.

I agree. But the brother was a former D1 player and employee at Tulane, so in this instance, it isn’t super sketchy.

But when it comes to hiring Uncles that didn’t make it past High School JV, that is a problem.

Stackhouse at Vanderbilt is doing something similar. Hired Matt Murrell’s high school coach a month ago just in time to start recruiting Murrell. Yes, the Cunningham brother situation is more blatant but hiring someone’s high school coach actually has a bigger impact on where a player lands.

Just look at what Penny Hardaway did between AAU and high school players who he coached.

You would think a very simple rule would be put in. No family hires on staff unless on staff 4 yrs prior to enrolling. Same for former coaches. Period. Only exception would be for Head Coach.

Didn't Danny Mannings dad Ed get hired sat Kansas right before Danny commited and wasn't lizrad slime larry brown the head coach just like stackhouse. Must have been taught at unc cheater u as how to do things that should be illegal , legal. Anyway the reason Danny played at Greensboro Page is that Ed once played for the Carolina Cougars of the old ABA. I hope Jim Sumner can read and either confirm or set it straight. OFC

Danny Manning left Page after his Jr year, when dad Ed (formerly w/ Cougars as Sky noted) accepted the assistant's job at Kansas. Ed Manning's playing days were over of course and he had become a truckdriver. The Manning family of course moved and Danny played elsewhere in high school his senior year. Package deal.Father and son to Jayhawks. I was actually relieved because I thought Danny would play for Dean, although State was in the mix too!
