Clark did great things for Iowa women’s basketball, and I wish her well in the WNBA. But if I’m being 100 percent honest, I don’t like or watch women’s basketball. The only two women’s games I’ve ever watched were the two games Iowa made the NCAA championship. Not that she needs my approval or viewership… she’s set financially for life. But women’s basketball is like watching turtles race uphill compared to the men’s game. There, I said it.
Well put, Anon. I have compared the women's ability to pass the basketball to my son's team in 6th grade. Kylie tries a bounce pass in to the lane which hits the opponents feet or get intercepted. Hannah missed so many freethrows and Addie Deal (who I thought would be a starter) omg she IS NOT A 5 STAR PLAYER - can't shoot, can't pass. Ava and ChitChat are the ones that keep the team going. Oh back to Iowa Men's bball team. I was one of the fans that went down to the side of the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and got a high five from the team and coaches. Try it next year. I got my chance to have a photo op with Trevin Jirack. I hope he get more agressive next year and turns to the basket instead of always passing back out. Good Kid from West Des Moines. Also hope that Trey Thompson and Howard are great next year.

Move the goal post are we? You said, "it was a missed opportunity for her brand". That's all I commented on. Her "brand" needs no help. Some in marketing think she's the biggest brand on the planet right now as far as athletes. What she does or does not post will have little positive, if anything it could be more negative, as so many outside Iowa already push every narrative that direction when it comes to her. Has she not done enough for Iowa already? Was she not responsible for the game in Kinnick, the huge crowds and TV which seem to be hanging around? Was she not responsible for the exhibition game against the Brazilian National team last year. As someone else posted, its possible she doesn't want her inserting herself into this to distract from the Glory going to Ben and his warriors where it belongs. Instead its the sideways, "Oh this is all because of the Macaffery family". Maybe its time we move on from that. He's gone. they're gone. We have a new coach who is the new wizard, (sorry John Wooden).
Pretty pathetic to not be able to give a simple thumbs up to Iowa basketball because of her bent boyfriend. Oh well. Her choice...and a bad one it is. And btw the BRAND is not all about the $$$$. Her BRAND is ALSO what kind of a PERSON she is. I am NOT saying she is a bad person....frankly I don't know her personally, but if you are too effing uptight to send a post or a note about the men's team, then that tells me something about her frankly. Doesn't mean I don't love what she does on the court.

Okay then. Your entitled to your opinion. I've never heard one person say anything bad about her "as a person". But some guy on a forum is calling her out for not making a comment about something, and says I'm not saying she's a bad person, and in the next breath you're doing exactly that by judging her for not living up to YOUR expectation ( your quote was, "pretty pathetic"), of what she should be doing. This whole thing is ludicrous. These are the times I feel really bad for her. In some peoples minds she can do nothing right. If its not the haters in the league its the posters on this very forum calling her out for her things she hasn't done, that they expect.

lol......you are completely missing the point. It is not about more $$....it is about supporting the school that gave you the platform to begin with and let you do what you do. How many ex Iowa football athletes were AT the game yesterday. How many ex Iowa athletes tweeted about the game showing the support for the team AND the school. TONS. Is it really hard for her to just sent a note of support or congrats or to say it's great to be a Hawk? If she is worried about getting CM's nose out of joint then that is sad.
This... This right here. Even KF has put out a statement

Very happy to see Cooper go to the game and support the guys! What are you doing for your diaper rash buddy? Good luck and good bye.

This post 1000%, very well said, and I can't believe that Ruggie is still carrying on about this no issue, and yes as you said he is intitled to his own opinion, but it is pretty sad that he is dumping on a great Hawkeye because he can't get a tumbs up to make himself feel better. Come on be better leave her alone and be happy for the success the men are having. Also, unlike many of you on here, I don't hate the McCaffery's including Connor, just disappointed in the way they have chosen to handle the situation. JMO

They've retweeted a ton of university social media content and were actually at the womens games....

Yeah, all 3 of those girls have been supportive. Kate was at round 1. Lucy was at round 1 and 2. Megan was at games to help recruit.

Why in Gods name do people think she "owes" Iowa something at this point? Jesus, she put Iowa basketball on the map. Frankly Ben, and his dog soldiers are doing a fine job of making a name for themselves and adding their own names in Iowa basketball history. Theres no need for Clark to deflect anything their way. The've got this.....

Because Iowa fans have given her unconditional support. Her coaches love her and publicly support her all the time. It's also just what we do... don't you want to keep supporting the place you love? Where you are from?

That's all. I'm not saying it's retracting from anything Ben is doing. I'm having fun regardless. Just an interesting talking point.

They fired his dad. You seriously expect him to still support the Hawks?
Well, sure, but Iowa also fired Kirk’s son. Do you imagine Kirk still supports the Hawks? 🤔

I get it, a little resentment from Connor, but if he hasn’t already, he needs to let it go.

Business is business. But if Connor wishes to maintain the entitled, spoiled brat persona he’s always had, that’s his choice.

Not to mention Iowa made his dad a very, very rich man.....and he will directly benefit from that some day.

Well you sure have a lot to say about Jensen for a guy who doesn’t like or watch it.

Lolol.. Look who IS being he baby. Your on social media complaining about what a grown woman isn't doing that suits YOUR expectation, You can't make this up. Maybe CDJ has some free time right now, while CC22 has a season she's in training to start soon. Hmmm.. escape you does it...

Really? So a poster on here calling her lack of a response as "pathetic" and not meeting "his expectations" is okay with you? I'll just stand opposed on that one, and leave it there......

You need to stop posting about womens and girls HS basketball for a while. Tell your attendant at the nursing home you'd like to personally restrict your computer and cell phone access for the next 3 months.

Thanks, and we all appreciate it.

Enjoyed watching Caitlin at Iowa but other than that never watch the game. Its a poor product compared to the mens game. Can’t understand how the Iowa women sell out when the men struggle to draw fans
Iowa fans have been forced into wait-and-see mode after years/decades of spinning their tires.

It was no different for women's basketball since everyone has selective memory for those that cared to watch womens CBB before CC.............but that changed in the mid to late 2010s when Iowa started getting some national attention with players like Sam Logic and Megan Gustafson before Clark arrived and took Iowa to a whole new level never seen even with the men.

Of course there's gonna be a massive boost in popularity, and if any of it caused men's basketball fans to become jaded, well then that IS the definition of a personal f***ing problem, now isn't it......................

But speaking of the men, that side of the fanbase can get their wish now as a run to the Elite 8, and potentially more, WILL in fact draw more buzz to the program.

The follow-up, though, will be the next biggest thing.

But that's for another day down the road. 😉
