Cal already looks exhausted in his pre-Florida interview

I've watched all the press conferences through the Cal era and I've never seen him look so aggravated and put off. Very negative feeling and almost like he's miserable. He once said that the day he isnt having fun is the day he walks away. I pray this isnt the last season, but he doesnt look very engaging.

I wouldn't read too much into one interview. He has been as chipper lately as I have seen him since he got to UK.

I think you are making too much out of it. He did look very tired, but the content of what he said was all very positive.

I feel like he is just coaching his @$$ off this year because he knows how special they can be. That is tiring. But I think he is loving it. We all know he doesn't like conference tournaments, so he is probably just going through the motions until the real tournament starts.

The guy has been as happy and cheerful as I've seen him. I mean heck, the guy took a mini vacation after the Florida game. Don't buy that at all.

Oh wow! This is a simple case of too much time between games for our fans. Cal has been as jovial with the media as I've seen in 3 years. When Cal starts answering his own questions during halftime interviews, he's feeling pretty good about himself and the team.

Of all of the teams he has had at UK I think this has been the least stressful because of having returning experience.

OP is seeing what he wants to see. Cal was actually jovial at the 6:50 mark.

I will acknowledge that Cal is right about the importance of the conference tourney. The season champion shouldn't have to play in it, it's meaningless.

He hates the SEC Tournament. He cares about next week. I honestly feel that he's doing this right now for the team and to shut up the haters. If he goes 37-1, 38-1 or 39-1, and wins a title, I doubt he cares one bit.

stoneycat,

You should have watched the video before commenting, because Cal addressed your comment.

Also, I liked the little shot he gave the selection committee, commenting about how hard our bracket always is, and that they might try to get OKC, Cleveland, and Portland into our bracket.

This was my first thought when I read the OP and then watched the video. OP is taking way too much away from that interview from what I saw. Yes, he looked a little tired but, outside that, he was having some fun with certain reporters and throwing in some good sarcasm about seeding possibilities. Cal has never kept it a secret that the conference tourney doesn't matter much and he's right. It really hasn't helped or hurt our seeding in any of his years at UK so I don't take anything from what he says on that any longer. I felt he was very positive about the team and what each guy needs to do to get a little better for the tournament.

Yeah, I agree he did look a little tired, but I wouldn't read anything into it. He coaches his tail off and at this point of a season (especially THIS season) things have to be wearing long on him. I felt really bad for him how it wore on him with the bad hip. He looked really bad and looked to me like he really needed that hip surgery(it was a hip surgery, right?) before he finally got it in the offseason.

Shows how much he is totally dedicated to the program and the guys on the team. Also, to us fans for saying the great things he did and giving us a tip of the hat to our dedication we show him and the team every game all the time.

Love ya' Cal ! Go Big Blue !

From the interview, I could tell he needs more fiber and was having trouble figuring out his DVR earlier.

Probably a more accurate take from the interview.

There's the rub. We never get the bump from it, and it certainly doesn't matter in this year's seeding... so, Cal is right.

He knows it's for the fans, especially the ones who can't always get into Rupp... and the pursuit of 40-0 is enough to keep him interested, of course. If it were an option, 37-0 would be just fine with Cal, I'm sure.
