It’s not “copium.” It’s based in years of facts. I can’t keep you from burning all your furniture if you insist on doing it but I can at least remind you that it’s a small matter in the large scheme of things.

Holt has been Bamas to lose for a while. I don’t mind when people get down on our recruiting for guys we were or are considered the leader for but it’s annoying when people start having that attitude towards guys we were never the leader for.

Over half of the title teams the last 15 years have been heavily reliant on a freshman. Almost all of those teams had a freshman starting. So it could be pretty impactful. Time will tell!

I agree, but in the four year of NIL and portal era, it's literally 50/50. 2 had them, 2 didn't. So it's holding to form so far.

I agree with you. Shegaris don’t win, but neither do Holts, Rippeys and the sort. I’m trying to point you in the right direction. We are encouraging Pope to do the wrong thing to win and he listens to us morons too much. We don’t need PR wins and HS recruiting wins. We need stability and continuity, particularly with 4 star guys.
I remember a day(yeah, I'm old) when any decent team would never start freshmen. Of course, I also remember what Cal did with a new roster chock full of elite freshmen, too. The portal and NIL has taken us back to when freshmen don't get relied upon as heavily and yes, the stats do back this up. It's a different time but it's also still pretty new and we are all learning. I suppose the right team, in the right year and all the stars align...a star studded freshman heavy team could win it all...but the stats say that the odds favor a different mix of vets and young guys now. Of course lottery picks help! Duh! But so does quality, veteran leadership roles. It's not an either or thing anymore. Look at Cal's team now. Look at UConn. Look at Purdue. Look at Houston, Auburn, Fla...Look at just about any team that won a ship or made a deep run and the formula is NOT a roster of freshmen anymore.
