After today's game does anyone know how many more steals Caleb needs to catch Jordan for the RU record?
Caleb has not practiced for days per Pike yet still playing heart outI think it was mentioned elsewhere that he needs 3 more to tie.
Did he get any yesterday?
Updated stats?
1. YesHe had 2!
- I really hope Caleb breaks it. Love seeing records broken.
- I kinda feel bad for Eddie at this point. Hard to separate his playing legacy from head coaching tenure. Sometimes "returning home" doesn't go as planned.
Yep, in terms of minutes played (which is all that matters) it is likely much closer.Looks like Caleb has played 25 more games - 141 to 116.
Still impressive for Caleb, as he wasn't a starter for much of his first 3 years

And could post up as a 6'1" guardJordan was a very good point guard when Rutgers went undefeated in 1976.He could make shots off the dribble and also was a excellent defender in the full court press.
Eddie Jordan College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.comSteals weren’t really tracked as a stat in Eddie’s first couple of years, so I think his actually total is much higher than what is reported. He was averaging over 3 steals a game in his last two years.
I think an average of over 100 pts per game may be a little high... If the Sports Reference website is correct, during Eddie Jordan's 4 years here his teams averaged 78.8, 86.0, 93.3, and 83.2 points per game respectively.Rutgers played at a really fast pace back then. I'm sure the possessions where similar to now.
Maybe even more possessions back then as they averaged over 100 pts per game

So this isn't like the player from Detroit who needs 3 points to break Pistol Pete's record (set in 3 years) vs the 5 that the other player recorded.Yep, in terms of minutes played (which is all that matters) it is likely much closer.
Eddie did not play 18-20 Big Ten games every year. The competition was much easier. So this isn't like the player from Detroit who needs 3 points to break Pistol Pete's record (set in 3 years) vs the 5 that the other player recorded.

Caleb will break it WITH injuryCaleb will break it barring injury
Let's not revise history. Eddie is one of the greatest players in Rutgers history. He was the straw that stirred the drink on a Final Four team. Caleb has been a fine player for RU, but there's no comparison between their respective careers1. Yes
2. No. I can’t separate the two. I can accept the failure more than the way he handled it.
Go Caleb! He represents the Rutgers much better.
No comparison in terms of competition either
I remain a big EJ fan, but in terms of our 70’s and 80’s teams (and earlier) you really have to consider that today RU is playing a national level schedule against top competition vs a near Ivy League schedule in the past. We need to view all career records with this critical eye.Eddie did not play 18-20 Big Ten games every year. The competition was much easier.
Thats still incredibly high considering there was no shot clockI think an average of over 100 pts per game may be a little high... If the Sports Reference website is correct, during Eddie Jordan's 4 years here his teams averaged 78.8, 86.0, 93.3, and 83.2 points per game respectively.
