When I coached, I always had a philosophy, "It is never as bad as it seems and it is never as good as it seems". When you lose, you make corrections, you look at yourself (coaches) and you figure out what went wrong. When you win, you make corrections, you look at yourself and you figure out the mistakes you made when you win and you get better. The goal should be to coach and play the perfect game. My point being that just because we beat South Carolina, they have their own struggles, let's be glad we won, but let's not think we are ready for the National Title either. I think the Alabama game this weekend will be absolutely huge in the fact that it is going to show what kids we have really want to compete. When you play the best, you better bring it or you will be exposed and embarrassed unlike never before. On Saturday, if I don't see a kid competing, then it would be next man up. After Saturday, I think you find out who you want to go to battle with the rest of the year.

Lol at people acting like Vandy is good all of sudden because they eeked one out over WKU. The week before they got absolutely housed by a very average Ga Tech team.

We'll be favored over APeay and Vandy. We'll be relatively small dogs against Mizzou/MissSt/UGA. None of those teams have looked all that great. Had their good moments, and had their really bad moments.

Bottom line is we have to win 3 of 4 in that stretch of Vandy/MissSt/Mizzou/UGA. Is it likely? No. Is it doable? Absolutely.

I feel like we pretty much controlled the game not squeaked. We also lost the turnover battle and still ran the ball down usc throats. I agree with the op i think this team has lots of upside considering the youth on defense
I agree. Don't see us threatening in Tuscaloosa, but I'm eager to see what kind of showing we make. After that, only U of L, maybe UT look daunting. Still trying to figure out UT. Frankly, I see us as being in a season where young talented players can make a lot of progress, especially on defense. I'll tell you what I really think of our chances against our remaining opponents closer to each kick off. 6-6? Maybe. Hell, MAYBE 7-5 still. However, 5-7 looks more likely than the two put together, if you are laying money. I will have a better idea, win or lose, after Saturday. Time to find out if this team really has found a backbone.

Read more carefully. I said beat them easily. That isn't saying a blowout. I think the defense has improved enough to prevent the second half collapse from game 1 and the offense is playing much better as well.

Beating someone easily = blowout where I come from. Call it what you want, but what are you basing the defense has improved statement on? Because they held South Carolina to its season average? South Carolina (124) has the 5th worst offense in the FBS against Mississippi State (41), East Carolina (75), Vandy (102), and Kentucky (109). Anyone who thinks a game against South Carolina and their one-dimensional rookie QB signals a vast improvement on defense (and that's what it would take to beat USM easily), is fooling themselves.

I disagree with your entire premise. I still prefer optimism over your attitude. To each his own.

So you disagree with facts? I don't care how full you think your glass is, that is never a good idea.
Your premise was not factual, it was supposition. You did list some stats that were factual however. Or to rephrase for you, your premise was not the relative ranking of 5 SEC teams.

Your premise was that UK would now beat USM easily with NO facts listed. So to rephrase, your premise is a bunch of bunk.

Was at the WKU/Vandy game. Vandy sucks and was very fortunate. WKU gave them the game. They had two turnovers on the Vandy two yard line (pretty much unforced), missed point blank fg, and had about a 35 yard completion after a WKU defender fell down that the drive ended in a TD. Vandy could not move the ball and is trash.

I could see us beating them and Austin Peay, but that is it. I really can't see us beating MSU or Missouri.

Lets not get excited about beating SC, everyone needs to remember that Muschamp is their coach, he is so bad he single handedly ruined Florida football in just a few seasons. He is the only coach in the SEC that I give Stoops the nod over. Had he not been fired by Florida, the streak would be over in my opinion

I predict a 4 win season. Really don't expect much improvement the following year either. Same players, same coaching staff.... same result. It's a shame to because the SEC East to down right now. A good coaching staff could make a challenge.

Yeah it never really looked like South Carolina was dominating that game, even in the first half with a 7-3 lead. Our offense was consistently better and the D other than really just a few mistakes played better the entire game. People are also probably overlooking the fact that we had very long, sustained drives in the second half which eats into a potential point total. No reason to chuck it around the field when you can take 10 minutes off the clock and run Snell down their throats. Great calls by Gran.

USCjr QB was bad.

USCjr OC was Spurrier-dumb. How any team does not run wide nonstop is beyond me. I'd love to see us seal the edge consistently.

That said, we still played our best game thus far.

Lol, you obviously havent watched a Missouri game. Their offense looks like the Patriots compared to South Carolina and they get better each game. Not a chance to beat them or MSU. Vandy has gotten better, they beat WKU, who would prbly beat us. How can people say we have gotten so much better since the USM game but refuse to recognize Vandy has gotten better since their game vs USCjr? Id take Vandy over us. So yeah, id be kinda shocked if we get to 4 wins.

I was just curious if you still feel this way?

Guys,

Call me crazy.... but I'm seeing 6 W's this year. Maybe it was a strong(er) defensive performance against a bad SC team or maybe it's the emergence of Benny as a strong compliment to Boom (I'm liking the "Thunder & Lightning" moniker) but I really think we can get to 6 this year and go bowling.

I'm counting the following games at wins.

1. Vandy
2. Miss St.
3. Missouri
4. Austin Peay

I think those are all very winnable games considering only one of them is on the road.

What say you CAT fans? Can we actually get to 6 and go bowling?
I definitely agree with you. These are all winnable games.

I'm starting to wonder if UGa at home might be more "winnable" that MizzU on the road.
Both will be tough - but we may have at least a punchers chance in both.
IF we take care of MSU - I like the fact that we have two decent chances (along with the AP game) to get to 6

I see us beating Austin Peay. I'll be rooting for us beating everyone else, but will not be expecting anymore wins besides that.

Some us called this a while back even at 0-2.

Three weeks ago, I would've said not a chance in hell, but now...

...now, I'm worried to say because I've found that everytime you begin to show positivity about the UK football program is when we get smacked down hard, but I can see a win against MSU, Mizzou, and Austin Peay. That would get us to 6-6 at the worst, but I could also maybe see a win against UGa. They're reeling right now and if they keep this downward slide, it's not unimaginable that they could come in here and lay an egg which could get us to 7-5 and if we could somehow catch UL on a bad day, well, that would be 8-4 and we are looking at not only a decent mid-tier bowl game, but also potentially the best season of football at UK since the 80's.
