Pretty obvious Cam had a rough ACCT but can he bounce back and give us 8-10 pts & play serviceable defense over next few weeks? I truly hope that 3ball going down against FSU late spikes some confidence.

Scheyer needs to work some magic!

Maybe he needs some Mr. Miyagi, chopsticks catching flies, blindfolded wax on wax off type of training?

Either way, Cam is going to come up big for us somewhere in the tournament. I can feel it. He just will!

Cam just needs to hit the reset button...10-15 points, solid def, and cut back on the fouls and turnovers

That is probably the single most important thing heading into the tournament. Zion and RJ are going to get theirs - can Cam be the third scorer he is fully capable of being? I am optimistic.

Tre's performance in the tournament, particularly in the championship game, was also a great sign. The FSU game may have been his best game of the year. He was really getting to his midrange and finishing around the basket. With the attention Zion and RJ get, he will get those opportunities. I love that he didn't settle for 3s.

Truth is that this Duke team becomes a heads length better than any team in college bball when Cam is a legitimate third scorer as a three point specialist. Without him, we'll be in some dogfights to get to the promised land.

I'm not as hopeful that Cam will be the Cam we want him to be. We're into March, he is what he is.
Like everyone else, I'd like to see 15+ out of him every game. Just not sure he's there. I'd love to be wrong.

Would like to see him grab a few more rebounds, but all in all, his defense has been steady all season.

This is pretty much word for word what I was going to say. Get the bull in the china shop bowling people over and the turnovers under control.
We almost don't need him to score 10-15 if it meant no more constant charges and turnovers.

It did appear in this last game vs FSU, he stopped easily being drawn into charges. I was happy to see that. Clearly there was something seen on the scouting report about how when he drives he fully commits without any thought of stopping or pulling up. I hope that wasn’t an aberration and he continues to play more under control.

As for his shooting, he’s so damn streaky. When you see what he did @ UL in the comeback, it’s diffi to understand how a shot the beautiful isn’t more consistent.

Chances are, whether due to foul trouble or the other team being hot, we will need Cam at least one game where he goes off from 3.

It appears right now that AOC is done getting major minutes and Jack has decided to seldom shoot it from 3. Therefore, Cam is our only legitimate shooter from out there at this point.

Here’s to hoping he does better.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I just feel better if teams can't just lock in on Z and RJ though. A lot depends on Bolden too I think. When Zion or RJ start getting doubled, there ought to be some easy close up looks for Ques

We’ll see. I thought by now he’d have it figured out but he doesn’t clearly. When he dribbles, abysmal things tend to happen. There isn’t exactly much time left for him to get it together. We need more than just a 3 ball from him. If you would have told me Zion would show far more grace off the dribble than Cam at the beginning of the season I wouldn’t believe you yet....

I know I know Zion and RJ, but who’s going to let them get the shot lol

Who can STOP them from getting it??!!!

Everybody in the gym knows who we are looking to for scoring but they haven't done very well at preventing it!!
A consistent 3rd option would be magical through....

He’s just clutch and has that mentality I think. Fearlessness I noticed early in the season.

I think we all want it to be Cam, and he has shown that he can do it. I would just love more consistent and more dependable. But he clearly has the talent and athleticism

What does Cam bounce back to? His high school ranking? I mean other than the UK game and maybe a couple more, he hasn't shown much shooting, passing, and dribbling.

My hope for him is that he 100% focuses on D and making free throws at the end of the game. I don't understand posters who have watched the entire season and think "consistently good Cam" is coming this season.

He's averaging 14 a game. I think that's enough if they are an efficient 14.
14 "efficient" points, good defense and low turnovers is plenty IMO.

Against teams that are currently ranked, we are giving up an average of 74 per game. Our 5 starters are averaging something like 73 per game. 10 points from our bench gives us a double digit win.
Only 3 times all year have we allowed above 79 in regulation.

So I don't think we need Cam averaging a lot more points than what he is averaging. Just be a little more efficient, cut out the charges, and cut down on turnovers. If he does that, I think we are golden

The consistent Cam we’ve clamored for all season, offensively, probably isn’t happening at this point anymore.

But, he’s been a great defender and proven he has cajones in some big spots. I’m glad he’s on our side.

I honestly think the charges / turnovers hurt the team (and himself) more than his lack of making shots.. I’d rather him score 6 points and have no turnovers than score 12 and have multiple turnovers.

What we need is for cam to stop taking such awful shots. Him and tre were really getting accustomed to taking poor shots. Tre really cleaned it up this acc tournament. Did anyone else notice that tre started driving instead of taking open 3s? The result? 18 points career high.

Cams gotta stop taking quick and contested 3s though. It’s a big part of his efficiency problem.

Cam has shown flashes of what we all thought he would be coming in, the most skilled guy on the floor. Some of the moves he made in the first half of that UnC game and the spin move mid range jumpers are NBA type stuff and he is the only one on the team that can make some of those plays. I don’t think he will magically be consistent and turnover proof throughout the tournament but I think having this time to finally practice with a full squad and a few tuneup games may do wonders for him especially. Also agree that if there’s one person I want shooting in crunch time it’s definately him.

Cam has really been a disappointment on the offensive end. Coming in it sounded like he was going to be one of the best shooters in the country but it just hasn’t worked out that way. You can see in spurts his potential but he just can’t do it consistently. His 3 is very streaky and driving it seems like every time he either coughs it up or gets called for.a charge. But I give him credit cause he’s still working on the defensive end and it’s not like he’s not hustling. And he’s proven he’s clutch. I still believe in him and i think he’ll pull it together in the tourney. And if he does..it’s over.

I think if we can establish some dominance in our opening weekend that we need to let Cam let it fly and see if he can't get some confidence in his shot. Same with O'Connell or Jack (if he is healthy)

Not a single team could beat us if Cam becomes a third scoring option or can shoot teams out of lame pack it in defenses.

I think those that bring up limiting or eliminating all together the TOs are correct. If he’s in rythym and it’s within the flow of the offense, I’ve got no problem letting them fly. Against FSU he didn’t hit all game until the dagger, but only one shot attempt off the top of my head could i have done without. Overall he played a good all around game, he was just not hitting. If he hits, awesome, if not fine we can still win, but he has to do the other things he has been, AND, eliminate the critical unforced TOs and that includes the charges.

I remember an interview K did when he was asked about Cams slump.

K said ,” he’s not in a slump we are trying to get him more comfortable with his all around game. He’s more then a shooter as we all can see by his defense. Trying to get him more comfortable with ball handling and his driving capability is what we would like him to focus on. Being a more all around player.

It’s morw of a mind set of cam being more confident with his game.

Cam will be just fine. We just need him to keep doing what he’s doing
Disagree. What he’s been doing hurts more than helps.

I think the biggest contribution he can make is keep up his defense, protect the ball and move around without the ball on offense.

That’s what he’s been doing. He’s not hurting us right now. If he keeps playing hard on defense and hit the occasional shot then that’s perfect. Teams respect him because they know he can get hot. It gives the others more space. We can compensate for him not scoring a lot. We find ways to score. His defense and rebounding are most important.

We've probably discussed this before but maybe Cam feels the need to play equal to Zion and RJ ? Is Cam putting too much pressure on himself as far offensive production goes. I'm talking more than his shooting. He gets a lot of charges on him and is it because his outside is not what it should be he feels he needs to drive to the basket , shoulder down and therefore charges are called. Just a thought. OFC
