Amazing the number of football players who are extremely talented that have ties to UK but go elsewhere.
The kid who picked LSU and his dad played for UK
Meyers kid going to Ohio state when his brother played here
This kid going to Maryland when his mom went here.
Etc etc
If we landed guys like these every year we had have a very nice class each year and would be amongst the best programs. Lol

Committing tomorrow. Probably Maryland. Mom was an athlete at UK.
You are correct... We lose this young man Jamal Adams who is at LSU will probably be the best safety in the SEC this year as a junior... Truman Claytor's son went to Georgia Tech as a defensive tackle.. young man that also went to Notre Dame to play and I think the pros are very high on this year orlast

Thats what happens when you are a terrible football team for generations, kids with ties to the program would rather go elsewhere.

And programs become terrible teams for generations when the AD gives them life support level support for generations.

But hopefully the money has become so great they can't spend it all on the other sports now, those days should be in the past. And also the internet has come into being, everyone isn't in the dark like before.

I think a lot of those legacy players would have liked to have seen their sons go to UK, but didn't think it was the best for their future. Now it is, in a lot of cases, especially if you are still from Kentucky or nearby. But I still think being even close to competing with TU and Transfer U in the COA fund used for buying players legally has to be corrected-------no excuse for it not already being a done deal.

Ridiculous situation, no telling what it has cost us already.

I don't think Spence ever had any interest in UK. The only reason he has been in the discussion for us is the interview he did at Fullwoods house back I 2014 when Fullwood committed. When he said that his mom (a former all-American track & field star at UK) wanted him to go to UK. Later when he transferred to IMG in Florida he did what many recruits do - tweet #BBN now and then to increase his number of Twitter followers. Nothing wrong with that and for a period we get our hopes up, and the recruit gets to show off his number of followers to his buddies. All part of the social media of recruiting. Time to move on

We have alot of kids with parents or other close family that played at UGA do the same thing. One of the qbs at LSU had a dad who was a starting OT for us, Hershel Walker's nephew went to Clemson. On the other hand, UT seems to have 4-5 kids who's dad played at UT sign with them. And some of them sure seemed to have alot of kids.

Yeah, who was the ex-UT RB who has like 10-12 kids by 10-12 different women? Their thing must be to take the "go forth and multiply" seriously.

I think JP had a slim shot at Jamal Adams when he was here because he was his God father, but when he was fired that was finished.

I understand about picking a power to attend school but Maryland is certainly not in that category.

Crying over spilt milk. We aren't going to sign every top prospect with a relative who went to Kentucky. No team does. Conversely, lots of our best players had no ties to Kentucky when they signed with us. There are things to complain about, but our recruiting isn't 1 of them. Cameron Spence is a 4 star prospect at IMG academy in Bradenton. To my knowledge, Kentucky has never signed a major prospect at IMG. The kid who picked LSU is Jamal Adams. His daddy George grew up in Lexington and played at Kentucky. But Jamal grew up in Texas, and was a 5 star prospect. Joker briefly tried to recruit him, but Joker didn't have much to sell at the time. Josh Meyers is a 5 star recruit and the #1 prospect in the state of Ohio. The top prospects in Ohio tend to become Buckeyes. So no surprises there. I have no complaints about Stoops' recruiting. He hasn't had a winning season at Kentucky yet, but he is recruiting better than any Kentucky football coach I can remember. It will only get better.

Winning has a strange way of solving a lot of problems like this...
