My understanding is that city lawmakers in Charlotte were trying to pass their own bill/law that would have forced private businesses, institutions and other places of public accommodation in the city to open all restrooms to transgender individuals.
There was a reason why the current bill was created. Not saying it is right or wrong, just that there was a reason not created 'just because'.
