He was not paid nearly as much as many other QBs - Underwood @scum for example. Cignetti did not get in a bidding war for Fernando Mendoza and outbid everyone paying him absurd amounts of $$$.... - you're full of it, that's not the way it happened (nor was it the case with Indiana's QB this year, Hoover). Cignetti & his staff are lightyears better evaluators of talent than Campbell & Co. Cignetti did not buy a team a la Oregon, LSU, duhO$U, scUM, etc.... - Cignetti is winning at Indiana by spending wisely and realizing extreme value on monies spent.
38-40 million

Is there anything that he's doing schematically that is hurting this team or is it just a matter of not having enough talent at certain positions?

I'm of the opinion that it's a lack of talent issue but I'd like to hear everyone's opinions.
It’s a new coaching staff in for most of them a new conference with a team put together very late. That’s a lot of moving parts and it’s going to take time. Time to me means year three.

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. People are not obsessing about the past genius, we're being critical of those who want to go on wasting PSU's precious and finite resources because THEY REFUSE TO LEARN FROM THE PAST. Until PSU fires Kraft they are doomed to repeat his profligate spending on awful decision-making with ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for his beyond disastrous decision-making and results. If PSU wants to fix this situation, it starts with firing Krafty The Clown yesterday!

Yes, hopefully we'll learn from our past of attaching our allegiance to a university to a past coach, and not repeat that mistake again. We won't run off coaches and administrators because they didn't bow to this deity sufficiently (in frequency or degree), and we won't withhold support (financial or otherwise) based on these perceived/concocted wrongs.

No, hopefully we've learned to pay more for way less.... so we can do that a couple more times into utter obscurity. Yea, that's what all us Alumni want. LMAO.

Lack of talent is one thing (and it’s big and real), but coaches aren’t helping.. Rushing 3 inside the 15, getting baited into a wasted timeout, etc. It’s Franklin all over again with nicer coaches and worse players. Kraft should be fired and/or should sue Sitaki for saying he was taking the job then didn’t.
Agree but Sitaki would have been a bad fit here. That and he never really wanted to be here. Kraft screwed the pooch at every turn. Sad situation for us but now it is what it is.

Ohio state won a championship a couple years ago with the backup qb. Just glad I was right about you dripping with tears of joy that pennstate is losing. Hope you threw your PSU shirts in the garbage.
Of course, it isn't like Ohio State's roster isn't populated by 5 and 4 star elite athletes. Until the transfer portal, it is reasonable to assume that their entire QB room was filled with 4 and 5 star recruits, Speaking of "dripping with tears" of joy, remember how all the experts here gushed over Fleming when he transferred here? "The #4 receiver at OSU will be #1 here!" We never learn. Now we wonder why we have no running game when our feature back was at best #3 at Ohio State.
I didn't have to throw anything away. I don't wear a jersey, I'm not on the team.
Penn State's losing is not the result of my opinions. You are just among the sad fanboys that can't admit my opinions, for which I was ostracized, were correct.
Take a a middle of the pack Big 12 roster and bring it to PSU. Surprise, You get a lower middle of the pack Big Ten team. Take a coaching staff that for a decade averaged 5-4 conference record and you suddenly get "excellence at the highest level." If you bought that, I've got a bridge for sale. You are likely among those who will insist that everything is fixed if PSU manages to beat a 2-3 Michigan team Saturday.
Would that be classified as a "big win?"

Still trying to unload that bridge that you bought from your hero, Big Game? He was going to get us to "Elite" and "Dominate the State" - you don't seem to remember any of the stupid **** your idol spewed.

10 more years!!!

Probably the toughest situation of all the major teams' coaching transistions with the exodus of players and recruits, with some influence from an 'internal coup' of departed coach and soon to be departed recruiting coordinator, and just too much time for the administration to act, effectively communicate to all the stakeholders, get a coach committed, or fill in the staff pieces (how much time if any did the D coordinator have in evaluating the ISU transfers and say in bringing them in?).
