What the hell is up with that team ? Goodness..they were looking really good for most of the Non-Conference..they even played UK tough in Rupp Arena..and then...what happened ? Lol I see they're struggling with lowly Texas Tech. tonight at halftime.

I couldn't agree more. They are 19-12..freaking 19-12..how are they even near the bubble ?! Yeah, they beat Baylor..but their Conference record..even if they win tonight is 9-10..My God. They'll probably lose again in the Big 12 Tournament..no no..there's no probably to it..they WILL lose again..which will give them 11 Conference losses..and a losing record in conference overall..and 13 losses overall. But Texas A&M here in the SEC is 11-7 in Conference and are 20-10..probably 21-10 and 12-7 in the Conference after tommorrow..but they're on the outside looking in ? I know Texas A&M didn't beat a Baylor type rank team this year..they did SWEEP LSU though. What a joke.Originally posted by bluinbville:
Rick Barnes happened. What bugs me is that people are saying that Texas should get off the bubble by beating Tech. Why should a Power 5 school get any credit for beating a conference bottom feeder in the conference tournament? I loved Bilas' idea of designating the at large bid pool at the end of the regular season 1-68. As the automatic bids begin to take a slot, the bottom team would be crossed off the list. The only way to earn a bid after that would be to win their conference tournament. I would much rather see an Iona get a bid rather than Texas who has had chance after chance to win games against top 50 teams.
Counting this year....17 years, 1 FF, 2 E8....the last one was 08. Since then, 3rd round is as far as they have gone.Originally posted by Waterview Catfan:
Anyone know how long Barnes has been at Texas? Also' what is the farthest he has advanced while there? Thanks
It's pretty simple for TX A&M. Beat Auburn and beat LSU again...and they should be in.Originally posted by 007LeroyBond:

But whew..that 9-10 (As Texas is pulling away in their game vs. Texas Tech.) is pretty horrible. And yeah, Texas A&M did blow it their selves losing to Florida and Alabama (Alabama at home.) back to back..that's pretty awful. Back to Texas though..they are soooooo inconsistent and will finish with a losing record in the Big 12, which I believe is an overrated Conference. I do remember in one of the BCG years, UK finishing something like 18-13 but we did pretty good in the SEC with a 12-7 Conference record and we did get in..but we had wins over ranked Vanderbilt and Tennessee teams that season..and also putrid losses to Gardner-Webb and San Diego at home. I mean, I guess I can see Texas getting in..but 9-10 and probably 9-11 or 10-11 at best in Conference..I'm with Bilas..if a team doesn't finish at least .500 in their Conference, they shouldn't get into the NCAA Tournament unless they win their Conference Tournament and get the automatic bid.Originally posted by UKWildcats#8:

I'll also add that this Texas team beat Iowa OOC, UCONN (when they were ranked), WVU by almost 30, and Baylor. Is that very impressive? Not really, but beating Iowa and UCONN OOC is like beating UK and UVA in comparison to A&M's best OOC wins. Plus, like it or not, WVU and Baylor are two top 20 wins for Texas in conference play. Plus, I am not even sure Texas is in 100% with a win tonight. I think they should be, as they are clearly one of the top whatever at large teams...and I'd much rather see them in a play in game than some cupcuke midmajor.
On another note, I see Miami is struggling with VA Tech tonight. That is another team that MUST win, and probably would help to look impressive doing so...so far failing on the latter and barely succeeding in the former.

Rick Barnes is exactly what the media tries to portray Calipari as - nothing but a recruiter. He literally just rolls the balls out.Originally posted by KentuckyRLD:
As everyone has pretty much figured out, Texas started with a very talented group of players and by the time the end of the season got here, Coach Barnes has reduced them to an unrecognizable group of players with absolutely no sense of direction. He has to be one of the worst coaches in NCAA history.
I was in complete agreement until the last sentence. RB has been in Austin for 17 years and has managed one F4 with a favorable draw and game sites, played the S16 and E8 in Houston IIRC. Teams don't go from having a multiple personality disorder to cohesive in three days without a tweak. The king of the tweak does not reside in Austin. Texas has no balance on offense and an inability to space the floor.Originally posted by caneintally:
Barnes sucks but that isn't what happened this year . This year they were humming along , a top 5 team IMO , and then Taylor came back . With all the talent on that team , and there is a ton boy , they were better with Felix who was didn't need to look to score and all his teammates loved him . Taylor is a bit more abrasive and is a score first PG and when he came back it totally threw off the teams rhythm and with a coach like Barnes that was the death nil. Just a messed up year for Texas but if they get in they could easily make a final 4 run as they 3-4 pros on the team.
There's a reason Texas is 18 in Pomeroy's ratings and Aggie is outside the top50.Originally posted by 007LeroyBond:

Oh if they make that run i will be in spite of Barnes not because of him !Originally posted by bluinbville:
