Can Jones next year average 9 assists a game?

Probably won’t happen since Duke will have several players that can distribute the ball.
However if he did he would break Hurley’s record of 289 in a season and if he plays 39 games he would tie Kendall Marshall with 351. You know he has to be really excited that he will have the keys to a new Duke Ferrari.

Yeah, 9 is a bit lofty, but with a year under his belt, instead of volume, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he could hit that 6 assist mark with a 3:1 assist/to ratio. I’ll take that all day.

Jones will have a great year and average 6.7 assists. With the 3 ball, there are fewer assists per game. 247 total assists for the year. 461 points. 91 rebounds. 73 steals. Terrific numbers. But 9 assists is not in reach nor is it a goal

Nine assists per game? No. Nine assists in a few games throughout the season? Yeah, probably.

I think Tre, both as a leader and a sophomore, will be asked to score more next season. His job this offseason is to go to work on that jumper. I expect him to be averaging low teens next year....12 at the fewest.

I can see him having a few 9 assist games, but there’s no way he’s going to average that. If we ran a traditional offense then the possibility would be high, but going positionless takes away from his ability to be a floor general.

Well, this past year he was at 5.3 assists per game with a 3.5:1 assist/to ratio. So, yeah, I think your goal for him would very doable. I'd be looking for more improvement, like 6.5 assists while maintaining the 3.5:1 ratio. If he's called on to score more then hitting numbers like that would be big for him.

Or, maybe he can shoot for what big brother did in the NBA this past year - 6.8:1 assist/to ratio. That's bonkers.

Last year he was passing to a guy who made 70% of his shots. I doubt he can do better this coming year.

Maybe, we are forgetting something potentially. We will have a deeper team with more options, so if we play a more uptempo style with more possessions, its possible, but not likely. I think 7-7.5 is very likely. Lets see!

Not totally accurate. RJ had the ball in his hands about as much. That’s a big reason he averaged a little over 4 assists a game. Tre averaged a little over 5.

Depends on how much he controls the ball in our offense. Winston at MSU nearly averaged 9 if I recall. Tre would just have to have the ball a lot to pull that off. He could do it but I doubt we run an offense that will allow him to get that many assists per game
