Can Mitch force Stoops hand in firing coaches?

I was thinking that if Stoops doesnt make any changes on the staff that Mitch himself could fire them and hire a real DC and both line coaches.
If Stools refuses to part with Eliot then he would have to quit or take a job elsewhere and save UK a ton of money in the process.
Anybody know if this is possible or if Stoops has complete autonomy over the football program?

I keep seeing different scenarios mentioned regarding Stoops forfeiting all or part of his buyout. Nobody is that stupid. Nobody.

The only thing that could help is an offset if/when he takes another job, although I've heard rumors that one doesn't exist.

Hasn't that pious dumb f-k already done enough damage.

That's about as smart as bringing in more Middle Easterners.

Of course MB can put heat on him to fire coaches.

We dont need Mitch hiring anymore coaches himself though...

My guess is the AD can fire any of the assistants with or without Stoops approval. He might have that power but I wouldn't expect him to go that route.

If he has any balls about him he has too. His job is going to be on the line now, if the fans organize against him hes going to be doomed.
Running adds against him or protests against the AD will not look good.
The fans need to microwave his tail as well.

Stop blaming the coordinators. It couldn't be more obvious they are not the problem. CMS doesn't get to scapegoat anymore coordinators. He plays that card every season and is wrong every season. Dawson puts up 100 pts in 2 weeks and Brown damn near beats Clemson. So spare me the coordinator excuse.

If Eliot us fired he needs to be blocked from going to a school we play in 2017.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Eliot cannot be fired during the season.

Think about it, fire Eliot now and Stoops takes over. If the defense doesnt improve who gets the blame at the end of the year? Position coaches?

Eliot cannot be sacrificed until after the season - he is the buffer.

Richt was put in that exact spot when Willie Martinez was our DC. He was told to get rid of Martinez as DC or he would be gone. Richt was very loyal to his coaches and Martinez was a personal friend who was in his wedding. So yeah your AD can get things done

I'm sure he could, but at this point I don't want Mitch making any coaching hires/fires. He would end up canning Lamar Thomas and keeping DJ Eliot and Bear Brumbaugh.

Spot on and it really couldn't be more predictable.

As long as Stoops can win an average of 5 games a year, he's never going anywhere. If he makes a bowl game or is very close to making a bowl game year in and year out, he'll be safe.

MB desperately needs this to work just like he did with Joker and it seems winning fball isn't as much the goal as keeping the hope instilled in the fan base that we are always on the path to winning fball when the truth is, we never really are.

Just read some of these quotes during Jokers 5-7 season when the writing was already on the wall for most of us fans to see but it took rock bottom the following year before change was even considered.

It will take a 2 or 3 win season and an empty stadium for Stoops to be let loose and it still won't happen until after the 2017 season.
