Stoops goes 7-17 in his first two years, misses going to a bowl game, and our AD gives him an extended multi-year, multi-Million dollar contract. Seriously, what gives here? Was every team without a head coach clamouring to get him last year?

Yes, I think you nailed it here. Stoops Troops was one of the most sought after coaches and that, is exactly why Mitch offered him the extension, to make sure he stays with the Big Blue.

He's just getting started, bro....

I think we were all hoping that CMS was going to take a big step forward this season...

I mean it was a risk to do so, but also a risk not to give him the contract...

Had we won 7-8 games this year and again next year, then lost Stoops to a bigger program...We would howl about how MB should have given him the money he deserved...

Pretty much yeah. I mean, there is no way he could recruit the way he was here without attracting notice. I would think that he would attract a lot of interest even if he were on the market right now.

I wouldn't have. Coaches leave anyway, after huge extensions. If Stoops had gone 9-3 and Texas or Georgia had come calling, bye bye UK...

Just a little clarification that Mitch gave him the extension during the season last year after he was 5-3 and coming off a decent showing at #1 Mississippi State. It was a HUGE mistake and a bonehead decision regardless, but it was not after the season.

It was a risk that may still work. Mitch acted quickly yes but he wanted to show a vote of confidence to the staff and fan base. Things look bad now but we have to trust our coach
to make the staff adjustments needed and roster moves. All of this sucks bad but I never thought this would be an easy task. I guess I'm of the minority but I think things will work themselves out.

He could have waited and matched any offer if Stoops had panned out and gotten other offers...he can still leave anytime he wants with no financial obligation on his part... but alas now we don't have to worry about anybody coming after him and he needs to go but we can't afford to send him packing

Your question would have been much more insightful before the 2014 season, even before this season. Now it's just piling on.

No head in the sand just reasonable. Might be wrong but it's my opinion. What's your opinion on exactly what fixes this current situation with the football program? Fire all the coaches? Release all the current players? This sucks for all of us that pay for tickets and travel for games and invest time into the program that we love. No easy fix here in my opinion.

Like it or not, Stoops is here to stay for at least one and more likely two more years. No other choice but to support the team

We might end up being a really run heavy team next year bc of Barkers inexperience along with several rb's that have had some SEC success.
Not saying it's forever but I would expect a heavy run offense next year.

Agreed. Boom is really too light to carry the ball 20 times a game. Horton looked really good catching the ball Saturday and Kemp ran aggressively until he got knocked out. Loosing Williams and Kemp didn't help any. King is a scat back / return man. Not an every down back in our conference.
Dammit I just realized we can't be a fun team with this group.
