Can This Team Bounce Back?

Today was rough from shotmaking to coaching in the second half. Seems like a little too patient with the lineup when going through a 2-20 stretch and not scoring for 10 minutes. Is the team getting tired since the depth isn’t there?

Playing three straight on the road. Lost probably the biggest key to our style of play this year due to Mags ability to rebound and play defense and provide a spark offensively. He does it all and we lost a starter. Coach said it would be weeks before we’re used to it. So it is what it is. Need to win out at home and steal
Something on the road

We have an easier stretch the rest of the way, which helps.

But before Mag was hurt, I had visions of the Sweet 16 and a puncher's chance at the Elite 8. Now, I'm hopeful we get a VERY favorable draw in the first game, or we might not make the Round of 32.

You clearly don’t remember the bad performances last year at times against inferior teams. Haven’t really had that this year. We will win some and loose some down the stretch.

Glad it stayed under a 10 point loss.

Saw RU up 47-41 on the phone and thought … wow … they might win and showed up. Expecting 3-3 and losses in first round of both tourneys to finish 19-14 (predicted 3-5 in earlier thread). Would love to see 20 wins but without Mag and the streakiness and potential of 3-4 starters having bad games at the same time … going to fall just short of 20 wins.

Still 19 wins would be more then I expected this season, and 3 tourneys in a row is a good run.

Would have been 4. Great run.

We just got through the roughest stretch of the schedule. I still think we can go 6-0 to finish the regular season, but I'll put that down to 5-1 given Mag's injury.

Do the computers factor season ending injuries for players who previously contributed to our success?

I would guess not.

@fluoxetine …?

They don't. Those numbers are based on a season with Mag playing in most games, so they will be high
Correct.

And if you’re looking at Bart he was already high on us relative to the big ten before compared to some other models.

No they can't bounce back. Season over. They're done. Good question.

No words. I hope they can’t but at PSU, prob a loss. NW looks good. Michigan fighting for their lives. I don’t see how we get to 19/20 wins, which I think we need to get into the dance. It’s unreal how this has snowballed downhill.

Answer is No. Pikell has lost this team. We have zero scorers, defense is pathetic, and no bench. This is on Pikell for awful recruiting the past 2 years and for devaluing offense.

Its amazing how 1 guy meant so much to this team.

Spencer has proven hes not a high D1 player with horrible shooting Paul taking zero shots is unfathomable

This game was about bad defense. Like they were not really into it from the beginning. Too many open looks.

We just look so lost on switches, everyone looking to help but not stay with their man. It’s like guys 3 is worth more than 2. Everyone going under the screens. It’s wild seeing how they let a team that hasn’t shot above 49% this year come in and hit 13 threes. And they did it effortlessly, mostly open shots. No wild bank shots or contested, just care free, using screens, some in transition.

No effort from the beginning. Almost like they thought no D was needed tonight and they could just outscore them. 82 points given up? Against Nebraska? Come on
