Athletically hard for him to guard, and hard for him to get open. It is what it is.Doubtful. He's in over his head.

I like Noah but he’s barely played at all this season. Do we try and get another guy up to speed, get him conditioned, and hope he can contribute? Or do we just tighten the rotation and roll with what we got? I just think we can tighten the rotation personally.
We have heard how talented Hawthorne is, I really don't understand why he is not being utilized at this point. They have compared him to Tashawn Prince.
Unlease him, and let's go.
Nothing wrong except fouls & injuries cut into playing time. Like they say in NFL & NBA - rookies aren’t Rookies come playoff time. The average SEC team is 9 deep this year & Tenn ,Arkansas, A&M ,Florida , Bama & Vandy go 10 or more.you want to start playing a freshman that hasn’t played a single minute in late January? Why? What’s so wrong about shortening the rotation and playing 7/8 guys?

If Hawthorne is not ready NOW - is he worth keeping for next year.
I for one am tired of watching former Ky players thriving at other schools?

Noah will be fine. He’s a good player and a competitor.
Kam Williams will be missed. Period. I really felt he had not reached his ceiling and was a major potential factor in Kentucky as a team reaching a higher plateau. But, the Cats move on and it is next man up. And setting aside pointless fantasy scenarios like burning Hawthorne's redshirt or signing a G-League mercenary, that's going to mean Trent Noah getting more minutes.
He won't replace Kam's contributions. That's obvious. But can he come reasonably close?
His biggest deficit is on defense, I'd say. He's not athletic, but he has a big enough body and is strong. He OCCASIONALLY shows flashes of being able to move his feet enough to at least force a difficult mid-range shot from his man. Another option, Pope plays more zone when he is in the game to protect him. A lot of defense is energy and concentration. He's just going to have to meet that challenge.
On offense, Kam was averaging 6.8 points a game. That was a bit skewed by a 26 point performance against a hapless Bellarmine team. In games not against Bellarmine, Kam was averaging more like 5.8. In recent games. he had 2 points against Tennessee and 5 against LSU, so he wasn't exactly carrying the team on the scoring end.
Noah has been almost a complete cypher this year, in part because his minutes are so few (and I think he was dinged up for a while.)
But he showed some glimpses of being able to score last year. In a three-game stretch this time last year against Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina, he averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds.
If he could get his production back to that level with increased minutes, he'd fill a significant part of the gap left by Kam's injury. The team obviously won't be better without Kam. I'm just describing a realistic scenario in which a big part of the loss is offset.
I’ll be rooting for him, but I doubt it. He could soften the blow slightly if he could rediscover his shot and keep defenses spread out, but he’s almost certainly going to struggle on defense, especially compared to Kam.
He has to play a few minutes at least to give someone a breather, he played against a tougher SEC last season. I don't understand why he's gun shy shooting the 3 this year? He is a step slow but after 2 straight fouls against Texas, the next possession he manned up & didn't let his man get to the basket. I'm hoping he gives us some good minutes moving forward.I like Noah but he’s barely played at all this season. Not save the season but provide some good minutes for Kam being out. I'm sure he wants to play regardless of the RS. The next few weeks will tell us if Hawthorne is even a reality to play? I wouldn't think Pope would do that but if the kid is willing & Pope sees him step up in practice maybe?it would be doing a disservice to burn his redshirt this season. you can't be relying on a young kid to come in and save your season
That’s because he CAN’T do that “with the ball in his hands.”Noah last night he seemed so tentative. He rarely works for an open shot with the ball in his hands.
AgreedAt the beginning of the season he was said to be the best shooter on the team.
We should have played zone all game against a non shooting Texas team.I think that Pope needs to consider playing some zone to cover Noah's defensive liability and to limit foul trouble.
And yet, another win. Sorry for your disappointment. We should have played zone all game against a non shooting Texas team.
Again not prepared for the opponent.
Played some zone, and it was mostly successful. Calipari would never play zone.We should have played zone all game against a non shooting Texas team.

i actually thought we looked pretty well prepared for TexasWe should have played zone all game against a non shooting Texas team.

Perry doesn’t suck. Just stop. He’ll probably light us up for 20 tomorrow.Like who? Because perry still sucks.
I agree.Noah will be fine. He’s a good player and a competitor.
I think with more experience, strength training and conditioning he can be a similar type player to the Devries kid at IU. I do think he has the desire and toughness to help us a lot in the next couple years. Is he a good player though?
What are your standards for "good" n regards to being a good player?
I mean…he’s pretty badPerry doesn’t suck. Just stop. He’ll probably light us up for 20 tomorrow.
I have my doubts. I thought he would make a decent jump into a contributer this year, but he’s played arguably worse. His defense is so bad and he hasn’t even contributed on offense where he was pretty solid last year. IDK what happened to him, but he is way more lost this year.Kam Williams will be missed. Period. When I originally brought up his name I didn't say anything about his worth as a player, just that this year he's looking for and getting off his shots. He did hit 5/7 from three last game so we probably shouldn't leave him open.I mean…he’s pretty bad
Lmao yeah, our “fans” are awful. I mean, Noah hasn’t gotten much PT this year, so not much to draw conclusions from. He played really well last year as a freshman. You guys love ragging on Noah. I think he can be a really good player. You can’t throw a guy into a game for the first time in a month, and expect much. The first foul call was a joke. The second foul was unfortunate. However, he fought for a crucial rebound, and made sure to rip it away from the Texas dudes trying to take it from him.
Dude is a baller. He needs to play and get his confidence back.
I said this about Chandler a few weeks ago. Just give him a bunch of time, and the talent and confidence will eventually show up.
I will take him over Garrison every time.
Noah loves Kentucky. He could have left. He can play. Only a Sophomore. Believe it or not, Sophomore’s used to grow and get better. Trent can do that.
