Can You Quantify Creativity?

Texas will soon reclaim the BIG12. MARK IT DOWN... Many time throughout history, the major justification a team is good is not all on talent, but the level of creativity within the schemes. Thats how Rich Rod done well at WVU.

However, when you combine high levels of creativity & high-end talent, its almost impossible to overcome.

The main issue I have with our offense the past two years, other then using mostly Fresh & Soph(which I overlook), has been the very low/average levels of creativity within the schemes/plays/formations/etc. They are modern basic concepts...nothing special or unique about our concepts.. I understand some variations of creativity require certain levels of talent & experience, of which we have not had the past two years, however as this roster ages, this will be something im eager to analyze in the coming years.

WVU will only be able to compete at high levels, with high levels of creativity, player evaluation, & player development. We will not be able to match OU or UT talent levels, so we have to be "smarter", we have to out-fox them...

Sark is a great OC, one thing is certain, Hudson Card as UT's QB will provide the skillset he needs to deploy unlimited schemes & concepts.. Limitations = predictability, and predictability = LOSS...

Maybe Brown & staff have choose to keep things simple, for various reasons the first couple of years, but once the average talent level improves & gains more experience, Im really hoping to see elite levels of creativity within our schemes & play designs.

We have saw many OC's not work out as HC, however Sark has HC experience, and in a talent rich and $ rich program, UT should rise quickly. Herman at least gave him a decent foundation to work with, far better then Herman had to start..

When you step back and look at the skillsets needed to deploy a full arsenal of creativity, Dual-threat QB is a must( at least one who can shake a little, like Geno Smith as an example, GS wasnt known for his feet, but he could move when needed)... #2 would be Speed - Speed beats schemes and can be a critical piece needed for creative concepts. 3. Diversity - not SJW type of diversity, but skillset diversity... Which mainly breaks down to Height/Length & Speed..

Its great to see us get two TE's in the 2021 class. One built more for run blocking, one more for catching & routes. Personally, I think if Victor Wikstrom would have played here in the U.S. he would have been a high 4 star TE, he'll be a freaking beast for us in a couple years..

That said, next season's success boils down to just a few things:

1. Garrett Greene
2. Garrett Greene
3. Garrett Greene

I have faith in the Def staff to develop our DL, LB's, & DB's... Im "hopeful" our OL takes another step forward. Im "hopeful" our WR's are able to catch the ball next year.

If GG is the QB we ALL hope he will be, it should open up the playbook. He'll still just be a Freshmen next year, but if he can manage to take few steps forward this offseason, id much rather he start early then to wait till later in his career. We may pay a small "development" price for that, but having an extra year will only improve his upside for his Junior & Senior seasons.

I also think Brown identifies how predictable our offense has been, which is why hes recruiting a certain type of QB. I dont think a pure pocket passer is the direction Brown wants to pursue, and at the college level, having a QB thats also a run threat dramatically increases the # & types of schemes that can be deployed, per formation basis.

Creativity, like "talent", is what separates good from great, in any career or business, its the one factor that attributes to success more then experience or talent alone. Its the one common factor shared by those who forge new paths of industry.

Sark is his own worst enemy.
You want to slap him if he touches alcohol

Yes, this statement is assuming he remains clean. If he falls into the traps of Austin, he's doomed to fail. Tonights performance, at least shows he can handle pressure and perform as an OC... Which is different then a HC, but still his offensive concepts are beautiful to watch..

Even if he does....

Look at USC 2016 and 2017
They forced him out in 2015.

Then look at when Sark's players left the program.

USC is stupid. They should have found some way to work it out.

But drinking does slow you down a little bit and made it easier for them to fire him.

I guess the only thing left for Texas to do if Sark fails is to hire Art Briles with Rodriguez as OC and Holgorsen as WR coach.

Ya know, while I realize you are joking, the "theme" of hiring coaches who comes from very different offensive philosophies/trees would actually be something I would praise & support. The most successful people are usually those who combine two different products, services, functionalities, etc... I also think it would reduce predictability for opposing DC's... Its really great idea, tho probably not that specific combo, haha.. That may be why Saban brings on many different previous coaches as "analyst"... To obtain as many different perspectives as possible. Diversification is usually a good thing, and IM not a fan when coaches always hire other assistants from the same coaching tree, seriously... whats the point to bring someone else on board who doesnt bring something different+unique..

Especially with the pressures of coaching at Texas. A place where the AD is not in charge. That's for the big money guys.

That isn't any different than anywhere else.

Especially now that athletic departments have taken budget cuts.
ADs are weak right now. Bending over for people with money.

Boosters run every major athletic department. They are the ones with the $$$$$.
They pay the bills. Not the AD.
It is the ADs Job to handle the job professionally.

This battle even happens at WVU. Lyons isn't pushing the boosters out and the boosters know that $$$$ gives them control over Lyons.

WVU doesn't have Texas money. The AD and President have the say so. At Marshall the state government tells them what to do.

All schools work the same way. Some just at a higher level.
Even HS operate in a similar manner. At least in some places.

With Covid you have a decrease in revenue and because of this boosters have more power than they have had in awhile.

Regarding Sark it doesn't really matter.
If Texas wins it raises the level of WVU.

Seeing three Top 10 teams in the Big 12 is great. Having two or three in the Top 5 or even Top 3 would be even better.

Nothing wrong with competition.
Just look at the conference in basketball.

Keep dreaming little lady. WVU has their boosters that give money but they don't run the show.

WVU isn't on Pluto and the value of money is different there than elsewhere.
If people give money they are buying power.

AD ultimately has a tough job.
At the end of the day he has to make sure all feet are headed in the correct direction.
But this includes boosters.

The rest of the stuff just matters who is there. Some ADs are stronger than others internally and has nothing to do with where they are

Easy Bourbon Tea Recipe · In a double old-fashioned glass, add bourbon and limoncello.

I bet he guzzles it in private.

He has had two HC jobs and has been a drunk at both.

He has a very real problem.

A person with his issues needs supervision.

Jeff Banks' wife is a stripper whose stage name is Pole Assassian and she has a pet monkey she rolls with

Cannot get more creative than that.

Wonder what the Bob Rowling's of the world think of this.
They though Herman and his wife were white trash. Didn't get much better.
