I am reading on Twitter that Capel is their #1 guy! Hopefully he doesn't leave. Things could be very interesting for us next year with the rumors swirling around DT leaving and now possibly Capel. Ugh..

I just can't see Capel leaving for an ACC school. It could happen I guess, but why leave a good thing for a mess.

If Capel doesn't leave then that may tell us something. I don't think G.T. or any other program would want him with the condition when the Duke job comes open he's gone. OFC

Regardless of circumstances, the Associate Head Coach position at Duke is 10 times better than the head coach spot at GT. Sad cause they have a nice history.

With the talent in Atlanta....GT is a very good job.

Eventually but I think Capel is the front runner for the Duke spot when K goes, so I just don't see this as a good move for him. Another top 25ish school is the only way I feel Kapel (see what I did there) leaves.

Don't see him leaving especially for THAT JOB....Its become an almost suicide job, UNLESS you want to take the money while not coaching(Gregory and Paul Hewitt both still getting paid)...

Jeff's star is shining so brightly now- and w/the Duke job almost in hand, the best memories fans want to have are him willing us to win in K's absence in Atlanta.,.

Just read that Capel has been offered the job at Georgia Tech. I guess the ball is in his court at this point.

I just don't see him taking it with the Duke job more than likely becoming available within the next three years.

Why not make Capel the head coach in waiting then if we are sure it's his job when K retires? It would be a show of good faith to Capel and I imagine it would significantly degrade these types of situations

If I were Capel, I would take it. You never know when K will retire + cannot be sure of what the world will look like when K does. For instance, if Wojo starts making a few NCAA tourneys, including a deep tourney run that makes him a hot coaching name, can Capel really be assured that Duke and K would go with him over Wojo? Same could be said for Bobby Hurley. I wouldn't if I were him. As someone who grew up a PSU football fan, I saw more than a few top assistants waste their prime head coaching years waiting out Joe PA -- only to see the man go until 85. While I don't think K will do anything like that, it wouldn't shock me to see K go until 73 or 74 if he's still feeling healthy and attracting top recruits -- which would be a full 6 years. His good friend Boeheim, for instance, is currently slated to go until 73 or 74 I think. Plus, if Ga Tech has success, it's not as if Capel would be of the running at Duke. He'd almost assuredly be pretty close to the top of the list.
