Since Ford is hyping this, I assume they broke 7 minutes- impressive

I’m not what you would call a car guy but one year I sat in a Ferrari at the Washington Auto Show. That was a half-minute I’ll never forget. (Don’t bother trying to convert me. My wife is the worst back-seat-driver ever, and having a real car would be a miserable experience.)

HEY Fair,
Screw those match box sports cars at my age........
Driving a Chrysler 300 Limited, and enjoying every time I'm behind the wheel.
Kar makes fun of me driving a living room around town or on a trip.
My sports car days are long over. 😥
but, would enjoy having a mid-60's Vet in my driveway.

Ah step. You are a man who, I suspect, is aging well. I need a bit more of that. I never had a "mid-life crisis" but now I find myself immersed in a "late-life" one which, I fear, may be worse.
At mid life you may still have time. Now, there is a lot less. Many dreams of my youth that lingered into my 50s (climbing a mountain of over 8,000 meters; becoming a Judge..... ) were increasingly remote, but still possible. Now they are gone. Whittier's words haunt me. "For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: 'It might have been!'. But enough of this self-pity. I am depressing the Board. I have a novel to write.... an appearance on Jeopardy to earn....
"After all, tomorrow is another day". 🙂

At our house in NJ, I frequently walk past a house on the water. One day I checked the cars parked in its driveway and figured it out to be $2m. The lower rent cars were a Porsche Cayenne and a Mercedes G wagon. It only went up from there. 2 Rolls were included as well as some high performance toys.

I had to figure out who lived there. Turned out to be a well known auto dealer that everyone would know.

I'm old and speed isn't high on my priority list. I see a lot of old guys with Corvettes but they can hardly get in and out of them.

At my age I prefer cars with luxury/comfort features. Roomy heated and cooled leather seats with lots of adjustments. I'm also spoiled by technology like driver assist, heated mirrors, and heated steering wheel. Heads up display is a must. So is a state of the art stereo system. My car has 18 speakers and 1800 watts that seems like overkill but it works great when I want to stream rock & roll favorites from the 60s & 70s.

When I lived in MA, Mike Kitteredge used to have car shows a couple of times a year at his main Yankee Candle store in Deerfield. He ran with a fast crowd, when his buddies showed up there would be more Ferraris, Lambos, and McLarens then you could shake a stick at. In the classic group it was Bentleys, Rollses, and Duesenberg's. I saw my first Stanley Steamer at one of those shows.

For me it all depends on who I can get to service them. Right now I only buy cars from the Toyota or Honda brand so I can have them serviced at Motor Works Inc in Rockville, MD.
