Congrats on the women's soccer ship on yesterday. Its the schools 80th state ship in all sports since 2006. Very impressive Thats almost a 5 a year average.....

The most in any sport is women's cross-country with 13. Then volleyball with 10, from the NCHSAA record book (so not counting 21-22 season).

80 in any sports is great, almost like an anomaly. Only other school that's comparable is the 75 or so won by Charlotte Catholic. No other schools are remotely close. Great work Gibbons and Catholic!. Over 150 ships combined in 20 years. Can anyone combine two public highschools to get over 150 ships in 20 years?

I’d be surprised if 2 public conferences could.

Please know….I’m neither for or against…because I don’t know enough about it.

I have been telling everyone Cardinal Gibbons is the one that will blow it for Catholic, Bishop, and Christ the King. They have no competition for atheltes from other private schools that is comparative to what Catholic has in their own neighborhood. They also put a lot more money into their facilities than CC or Bishop.

I could see CG competing for a state title in every sport. I would truly like to know how many were going to Catholic elementary and middle schools plus are members of the Catholic Church. The only reason I wonder that is because two standouts that I know of did not go to a feeder middle school. Almost every footballer at Catholic is from a feeder school or came from an out of state Catholic school system due to family relocation.

Btango 100%. Said it before and was frowned on. CG was the most talented football team as a complete team in the state. They are the clear favorites to win it all in 22. It took two illegal super residency schools to beat them regular season and they dominated the playoffs. Just dont see how folks remotely think we have a level playing field with private parochials in NC. Its entitlement to its fullest!

When it comes to football definitely leave out Christ the king and bishop.

From the looks of it, Ardrey Kell was the favorite and even outshot CG 31-7 in the title game. AK was nationally ranked and CG won on Penalty kicks.

Page went toe to toe with AK but fell short with top defender subbed off due to injury in the West final.
