NC State is the team making the adjustment offensively and just look at the results.

There's zero doubt in my mind the worst thing about this Cards team in 2021 is their offensive play caller. Malik should have thrown 35 passes in this game and stop him running all the time.

This reminds me a lot how I felt with Charlie Strong's offense his first year here.

Looks like it's not going to be this season for Satterfield. I have my doubts he survives maybe even by his choosing. It's starting to look like the dreaded Kragthorp era.

But, maybe it all comes together against Clemson?

Hey we are going to run a quarterback keeper everybody get ready. Every now and then hand it off and catch the defense off guard.

Maybe Malik's hurt because this was a poor performance like few other in his career. He was off in every facet.

Satterfield has a few deadly weapons in Cooley, Hall, Harrell and Watkins and he should see that these playmakers get most of the touches. Get them in space, use reverses and other creative misdirection. Do this and score early and often, then you can implement more of the physical running offense.

Bobby Petrino was a master at this, especially his first stint here. Satterfield is stubbornly trying to impose his offensive philosophy regardless of its continued mediocrity.

He just doesn't take advantage of his opponent with the tools he has because he wants to be successful his way. He would be a terrible general on a battlefield.

Tonight CSS and staff proved they are not ready as prime time players. Malik was off all night and tried to do more than he was capable of. And or the receivers were not getting open I guess. Couldn't see them. No screens, short passes or misdirection plays that I can remember. Anyone else?

I hope the team does not quit on the staff....but this game was there for the taking in the first 3 quarters and the plays called were poorly executed in crucial parts of the drives or just poor calls to begin with.

When you have to settle for FG's vs TD's you normally end up on the short end of the score. The defense can only play valiantly for a limited number of plays...and that limit was exceeded and giving State great field position is on the staff and its poor decision making.

Although I picked the Cards to win tonight in my Pic Um thread, it was wishful thinking.

I certainly did not think this was a game in the W column when the season started so I went against my better judgement.

Next week Cards take on Clemson on a winning streak and something to prove. I am not very optimistic that the Cards with this style of play displayed tonight can or will beat them. Anybody else?

Going to bed in a foul mood is never good. If I had a dog I would likely shoosh him away. Good night fellow Card fans.

Malik led Watkins perfect on that TD. 3 other times he threw way late and made them jump balls when receiver had them burnt! Late decisions and bad decisions throwing the ball all night.

I agree Mayoman; offensively this staff is showing a real lack of “in the moment“ play calling during the game. Too much reliance on Malik creating something on his own. Some of those deep routes came at times when just a more conservative 5 yard completion would eliminate these series where we find ourselves with a 2nd and 10, or a 3rd and long.

I think this is a pretty good observation and idea.
