I'm a 4A guy, but this situation at Corinth Holders interests me because Corinth Holders head coach Carl Smith is an alum of my school, SW Edgecome, and former assistant coach as well. But the word is that his Corinth Holders Pirates have forfeited the last game of the season at Millbrook. Speculation ranges from not having enough healthy players to the players simply quitting on him due to friction. I've even heard that he wasn't even gonna be at the game anyway. Anybody know anything about this situation in Johnston/Wake County?

Ok here is some insight into Corinth Holders and Johnston County . Johnston County has run off or tried to run off so many good football coaches and is a terrible county to work in. Most of the county is racist and backwards having hand waiving faux "Christians". I mean they still have flag day in that county so that should tell you all you need to know. Now to Corinth Holders problems. First and foremost the AD is a huge problem. HE is the baseball coach and all he really cares about is baseball which is a major conflict of interest. In essence he is a pric* to work with. He should be removed as AD and I was warned about him by a coach that has a great reputation in NC(without naming him he coached at Clayton and Randleman ) The AD is unfit to lead an athletic program.. Second issue with Corinth Holders are the parents, well most of the parents. They are an entitled redneck bunch of so called Christians who are terrible to deal with. I have worked at Rolesville, Parkland, Martin County , Mt. Tabor, East Forsyth , SW Randolph and none of those places have the terrible parents of Corinth Holders . Now any young coach out there eyeing this job up, I would say pass because you will end up the same way as previous coaches. JOCO and Corinth Holders in not the place. JOCO and Wake are what I would say are Gotcha counties. So enter at your own risk.

I guess that makes sense why the baseball and softball teams seem to be the only competitive teams year over year

So many schools struggle from poor leadership. AD and Admin should have the coaches back against crazy parents, because they're almost all crazy. I would know. Johnston county is particularly bad for it.

When I heard about the forfeit and the low number of players, my first thought was how Cleveland and Clayton seem to be loaded with players every year while CH struggles with numbers. The same gap doesn’t show up in baseball. Over the past six seasons, Cleveland is 81-53 and Clayton is 81-57 in baseball (CH is 113-38). That’s solid, but nowhere near the winning percentage of their football teams. Is that a coincidence? I also wonder how many players at Cleveland and Clayton actually live in the CH district. I have no problem with kids that want to move into a certain district and provide themselves with a better opportunity. My problem is have different districts line policies across the state. Maybe I am wrong and this has nothing to do with transfers but if I were a betting man ............

Because all the AD/Baseball cares about is baseball. The AD thinks he knows everything about all sports and is unfit to be an AD. Now as a Baseball coach he does well. In a school that size the AD should not be a coach. I mean what other place has had me there 1 year and S. Handy there 1 year and could not keep either one of them with many people saying the same thing about the school/District/AD
