Per Twitter:

Radford grad transfer Carlik Jones has committed to Louisville, sources told ESPN.

The No. 1 grad transfer in the country.

Big South Player of the Year averaged 20.0 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 5.5 APG.
One of the top !

Louisville has landed Radford graduate transfer Carlik Jones, a source told
@Stockrisers
. The 20 point per game scorer was one of the top-available transfers on the market. Chris Mack was his first phone call out of all head coaches.

This will be interesting assuming...

A) We have a season next year
B) DJ returns

If A&B happen...Looks like UofL will have two guys with PG/playmaking skills sharing the court..... having them both on the court together should lead to less standing around, which we saw a lot of last year.

Here's what i've read so far about him . I like more than anything that this team lacked .

"What to love about Jones? He is a super fierce competitor who is going to talk ****, back it up, and want the ball in clutch situations. He’s a terrific passer, a terrific finisher, he’s got great body control and terrific basketball instincts."

There are some negatives they say he's only 6'1 at best and not overly athletic and his defense is less than desirable .

Finally some good news in this world! great job Coach Mack.

Jones shot 40% from 3 point land and 81% from FT line. FG percentage was near 49%. he's very patient with the ball from what i could tell.

If Scrubb makes it to campus, UofL will have one of the best starting 5 in the country. I believe Sam and DJ will make significant and sustainable leaps.

Jones, Johnson, and Williamson.

Best back court probably since Siva, Russ, and Wayne? Best backcourt in the nation??

I agree if Scrubb makes it to campus Louisville would have the best backcourt in the country. I always heard that big men is what you need to have a great NBA team and goods guards are what you need to have a great college team.

Even without Scrubb, I think it’s the best.

DJ as a sophomore and fully healthy plus a senior who was one of the best scorers in the land last year, and add Sam Williamson who has talent that hasn’t been fully realized yet.

Hopefully Williamson and DJ are able to shoot a 1,000+ jumpers a day during the break. They really need to improve their outside shooting for this to be the best back court in the nation.

They certainly need to improve from the outside but one thing I think that’s better with this backcourt and just lineup in general compared to last year is we won’t be so 3pt dependent. It seemed like a lot of games it was make or break on the 3 ball and that’s not sustainable for the long haul. With DJ, Jones, Sam and maybe Scrubb we’ll have 4 guys who can drive and finish at the rim or pull up for the mid range all the while relying on more open 3pt looks due to DJ and Jones passing ability and not so much Ryan and Nwora pulling from 35ft when the offense is stagnant.

If Jones can hang we could see 2 PG simultaneously which could make the game a lot easier for the front line.

Going to be an interesting year with some unknown quantities. That could be a good thing for Mack - not being locked in to certain veterans, not taking anything away from the departed.

There could be some guys hungry for PT and practices could be REALLY competitive.
