Monster!!!

What a game! Im not sure Zion had game last year that could out do that highlight reel!

WOW

Yes they only count for 2, but they are worth so much more! We don't win without his high flying dunk show!

Can somebody post a link of his highlights from last night......

Hmmm no offense to Stanley, but I’m pretty sure Zion did that every game.

But that one-handed tomahawk will definitely be on the @dukembb Top 10 dunks of the decade. Too bad we have to wait 10 more years for the compilation!!

He was in beast mode in the second half, what a fun player to watch. And what a way to step up when we needed it most in the game, big time!

i have already anointed him the nickname "Young Flight":D

He does it so quickly too Lot's of potential. Does he give us another year? I hope so. I know the old saying is money lost is money lost and that is so true but I don't feel he's a 1st rounder this year.Could be there next yearticle though. Is there enough between the 1st and 2nd round to stay? OFC

I could be dead wrong of course but I believe we likely get him back and wouldn’t be shocked if Hurt came back

Unfortunately i think you’re dead wrong. But, it’s too early to worry about that sort of thing. Enjoying the high flying antics.

I think it depends a lot on team performance in March/April as to whether any freshman comes back. Had the '15 team lost in the round of 16, we would have gotten Tyus and Justise back for sure. I'll take the championship thankyouverymuch.

I probably am. I’m just going off of gut feeling when I watch them play . They just don’t look near ready to me. I haven’t looked to see where they are in any mock drafts, but I’m sure if they like their projections, they are gone.

Tyus i think you’re right but not Justise. He was gone as he was a top ten pick before the tourney started.

Being ready is thrown out all the time and it isn’t a requirement for leaving. Hardly anyone is “ready” but where do you project and what are your chances of making a roster. Right now i haven’t seen Cassius on any first round boards, Matthew I’ve seen first and second depending on the day. Would be stunned if either come back- remember both are 20 already.

Many aren't ready but go anyway. Watching Hurt get abused down low by guys almost nobody has ever heard of shows he is not ready. I'll enjoy him and the rest, win or lose, this year. If any come back, great. If not, bummer, but we'll live.
Curious how Tech does the rest of the year. For significant stretches, they were very, very good.

Hurt got dominated down low last night by both of those physical and athletic GT big-men (they were very impressive). Felt like he got blocked every single time he went in the paint.

If Hurt can just get stronger, his game should translate great to the NBA. 3 point shooting has never been valued higher, and Hurt already has that down. He also moves laterally on defense a lot better than I expected, he's not really a liability on that end at all, which is huge for us. I think he came to Duke to be a OAD and that hasn't changed. His quick release and the way he shoots (holds the ball above his head) should also really help him at the next level.

Dont get me wrong, I love Hurts game. One of the nicest "surprises" of this years yeam has been Hurt's and Vernon's overall effectiveness on D

That one handed dunk that he did reminded me a lot of Grant Hill’s dunk where he basically just threw it down threw the basket. I just thought of a nickname that we could give in based on his dunking ability. The OFC guys will know what I’m talking about. I imagine most know who the band AC/DC is, I know the OFC guys do. They have a song called Thunderstruck, which is a badass song by the way. The nickname that I thought of for Cassius is a play on the name of that song. I think the nickname “Thunder Dunk” would be a cool nickname for him with the way that he throws down some nasty dunks.

I actually liked the one more where he kind of danced in through the lane and threw it down. Didnt look like he was going to get anywhere close to getting all the way to the hoop, no less throwing down a monster jam.

Zion did not dunk like that "everynight"- He just did not. Maybe a few nights he strung it together like that. Those were 3 INCREDIBLE and TIMELY Dunks! Pointless argument, pretty sure we both agree we are damn glad to have them both! I just thought that was an absolutely incredible performance. Such huge energy when we absolutely had to have it, with all 3 plays.

Go Duke

We are allowed our own opinions, and mine is, I will miss Tre and Vernon because they are tough and good guys and might make it in the NBA. I would be very sorry to see Cassius go because he is exciting but still humble and seems like a good kid. If Hurt goes, I'll miss him for the sake of the team, but I have no expectations about his making it in the NBA and will not give him much of a thought. Kind of like transfers who are out of sight, out of mind.

Very interesting. People snoozing on Vern, dude is gonna be great in the NBA.
You think he will be great? I sure hope so, and I think he's a great basketball player, but I'm actually surprised to hear you say that. Only because I know you follow the NBA and Vern doesn't seem to look like your typically 5 in the league right now.

Yeah, I think he has potential to be a starter on a good team and potentially an all-star down the road. Does he have the future hall-of-famer potential that a Zion, Bagley, Tatum, or Kyrie has?? No. But I still think he's being overlooked.

Coming into this season Vernon was getting crushed by draft guys and even college basketball guys that he plays with no motor, is lazy on defense, and all he did in High School was shoot 3's. Heck, I know people on here were questioning if he would be a starter or how much he would be able to help us. It's amazing how much better he is than most expected, I feel like he's improved more than anyone since the preseason games.

His calling card in the NBA is to be a 5 obviously, he already can step out and hit the 3, which is a necessity nowadays. The only other thing is to be able to protect the rim and guard ball-screens, and he is miles further on those things than anyone expected he would be.

I tell ya man, if he can figure out a way to have some sort of face-up mid-range game where he can hit the jumper or take a guy off the bounce, he really could be great on that end. His touch around the basket is incredible, even when contested.

I am so shocked that Cassius is this good. I mean..we knew he was older than the average freshman, but still.

We definitely upgraded in regards to adding Cassius and losing Boogie Ellis. Boogie is shooting 28% for 6 points a game. His minutes keep getting cut and he's about out of Memphis's rotation.
Boogie should be a multi-year guy so maybe he would have paid dividends in upcoming years. But Cassius is on a whole different planet and a reason Duke has a chance to make the Final Four.

Not only is Cassius really a good player, but he plays hard, he's not afraid of taking the big shot, he is very humble in his approach, and he doesn't try to do too much (in fact, sometimes I wish he would be more assertive).

Can you tell I'm a big fan of his? Assuming he leaves after this year, he will be one of those guys who I follow (like Ingram) as if he'd been here for a longer time.

I get it. I’m the same way! Lol. Every time I see a thread regarding a current player, I’m afraid to click on it, because it might be a tweet saying a certain player got an injury during practice and will miss some time.
