The same AD has been involved for all the hires of the school since it opened. They will get it wrong again and it will be open again in a year or two. Tough place to coach when you have no idea the athletes you will have. Had JV last year and were planning to try Varsity again this year. I don't think they will be competitive until they get somebody to stay long term and be patient building the program.

Once students are admitted to school they stay in the same school or are they leaving?

Students go there for academics through a lottery. Once in they are in. The issue is that supposedly there is no priority given to athletes that might want to come to the school. They usually stay once they are there though.

Berry Academy in Charlotte is similar, and they have trouble at times keeping athletes.
Atkins in Winston-Salem. 100% magnet and is a highly ranked academic STEM school. Lottery every year and couple of 100 turned away each year.

Ok is there any other NC schools et up that way?
If you want to win a bunch of games immediately I would steer clear of these type schools. It's tough because of how they let people in being the true lottery. No help getting athletes into school. But, if you want to coach, work with great students, supportive parents, and low expectations, it's a great job. Build a decent program there and you can probably do it anywhere.
