Just recently...

Ben Simmons went to LSU.
Michael Porter Jr. to Missouri.
Mo Bamba to Texas.

Programs that missed NCAAs much less getting turnkey rings. So much for your theory.

Go figure.
LSU has sent 40 players to the NBA, including Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, Shaq Q'Neal and Mahmoud Abdur-Rahim.

Texas? 41 guys, including 1-and-done Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge and LaSalle Thompson.

Mizzou have sent 33 players to the League.....

So it's not surprising that these school could attract one-and-doners.

Yeah, and Army dominated football 50 years ago too, but that ancient history means about nothing.

When these guys went to their respective schools, they were not turnkey championship contenders as Mr. Wickerpark was asserting would be the natural landing spot. You're mentioning Pete Maravich, Shaq, and Mahmoud Abdur-Rahim? Pat Baldwin Junior wasn't even born when these players were playing. Northwestern has been to the Dance more recently than any of these programs.

That wasn’t Turk’s point though. He claimed that one and dones want to play for championships and play “national schedules” on TV and not the weak non-conference games like NU. Turk apparently doesn’t realize Duke and Kentucky and Carolina etc, play cupcakes in the non conference too and that NU plays MSU, Purdue, OSU, Michigan etc. -pretty damn good competition. If you think Ben Simmons wouldn’t have been the #1 puck if he went to NU instead of LSU, or Jabari Parker if he went to NU instead of Duke you’re nuts. I know nothing about Pat Baldwin, but if you want reasons why a one and done player would select NU just look at hunter Johnson; familiarity with the staff, program, school; proximity to home; facilities, not to mention his parents relationship with NU.

Turk thinks it's "silly" to even consider it, his passive aggressive way of arguing with those who disagree with him, on topics ranging from one-and-dones to flat earth theories.

Actually, he would create a bigger legacy for himself and increase his draft stock by leading NU to a B1G championship and a Final Four. A national championship would put him in Larry Bird territory.
How do you increase your draft stock if you are already the first pick of the draft? Larry Bird played 4 seasons on college ball to get where he got. There is no way Baldwin does that if he is what they say he is. The NBA will allow the drafting of players out of HS by the time Baldwin graduates. This kid will be a none and done if he remains the top player in the class.

Isn't it just our luck that the kid is potentially too good for college hoops? I mean, both parents are NU alums, his dad was a hoops great and coach, he was an NU ballboy for crying out loud... Why couldn't he just be a high 4 star or the #10 or #12 kid in his class?

I love it. Pleas be a poorer player so you can come to NU for four years and take us to the Promised Land.

I'm certain he's not saying that at all. And his fan interest point is valid. A situation like no other I have seen in my 40+ years of NU fandom, where we are in a great place to land a great talent. Someone who could attract other great talents. And damn. He may be too good to even bother with college basketball. What luck! Says nothing to or about PBJ other than the obvious. The kid has a bright future in the game.

Maybe if we could just get him to say NU is his favorite until he goes pro.:D
