The rumor on the street is that Providence is ducking the DVC. Providence has open date do to Lake Forest dropping football. They are looking to be granted a forfeit win rather than fill the spot. However, a DVC team that has an open date has offered to play them, but Providence is ducking them. The big bad Catholic League wont play the DVC team. That's fine, the DVC team will just go play a 2 time defending state champion from Ohio.

Don't ever tell me how good the Catholic League Blue is, just keep taking your forfeit wins when you can get them.

You call out ONE CCL team for an admitted rumor, and then you jump from that to an indictment of the entire league.

Interesting correlation you tried to make from a rumor about one school to making it look like the whole league is just looking to take forfeit wins.

Whoever this school is, it probably isn't Wheaton North.

We were supposed to play them home and away about ten years ago.

Mt. Carmel made the trip there, but the series ended after that one game.

Power believe it's lake forest academy that dropped football. Does anyone know if this has been confirmed?

let's pretend that for some reason PC chose not to play....take a look at their past schedules...they don't duck teams.

this is a troll post.

LOL: Passive aggressive here: "that's fine the DVC team will just go play a 2 time defending state champion from Ohio."

Just when I thought the boring off season had begun . . .

After seeing what the Wisconsin HS association came out with yesterday, I was starting to miss the good, healthy loathing of our opponents.

Now what you've got to get is a war-by-proxy (not unlike 'Nam) - hockey would be best, but it could go to even girls basketball - to call PC out publicly and to wage a battle to prove who is the pansy for once and for all.

Holacek should be there picking up LFA's studs...
If there are any studs, Carmel needs to get there first. St. Joe of Kenosha might sell their parents on the tuition differential and lack of traffic going north rather than into the job pit of central Lake County.

Well, how many Catholic League schools took a free pass last year? How many attempted to fill their bye week? Catholic League can tell stories about their schedule all they want if it allows them to sleep at night. People aren't fooled. The new tradition of the Catholic League is take a week off whenever they can get it. The DVC teams play just as hard if not harder schedule. When DVC had issues with scheduling those teams didn't take bye weeks

Watch with the multiple question marks or I will start thinking you are HHSTF and will have to ignore you.

My point is that the non con schedule for the DVC this past year did not exactly set the world on fire.

As for the CCL going golfing, whether the handful of CCL schools that you are specifically referring to went golfing or wound up playing the damn game against Hales, the difference would have been negligible.

Let's look at the CCL Blue non con schedule for last year:

Loyola vs. Marquette (Milwaukee)
Loyola vs. Maine South
MC vs. Marist
MC vs. Morgan Park
Rice vs Rice (Mich)
Rice vs. Crete Monee
Rita vs. Malvern Prep (PA)
Rita vs. Dunbar
PC vs. JCA
PC vs Oswego

Overall, I would say that the CCL non-con opponents were substantially more competitive than the DVC non-con opponents this past year.

When the DVC added the "Naper-Aurora" Valley School's and the other teams left the DVC, I think there was an agreement made for DVC to play Upstate Eight for the next couple years. Except WN had to fulfill contract with JCA....
Both the CCL and DVC will always have similar issues finding non-conference games.
I can fully understand any of these teams looking for an better chance at a W when scheduling non-con games given the competitiveness of both conferences.

Dare I say, why not a shave of the multiplier for the CCL teams if they schedule a large public school (eg the DVC schools) as non conference foes? Such a provision would apply in the case of "sudden" loss of opponent as with closure or dropping of football by a previously scheduled opponent. It would have to be worth their while, say from 1.65 to 1.35.

It's not even close...
