Can the Big Blue get the win today and clinch the series ? I like our chances with 7 win starter Dustin Beggs going. Would love to see the bats come alive, and give us some wiggle roo.

It was a shame to have the hitting streaks end. Let's hope they start them up again.

I'll have to say this. I like how this team puts pressure on the opposing defense. That's going to get them more runs than being safe will.

Struggling with men on base today. Cats score 1 on a balk in bottom of second, but have stranded a guy on 3rd for each of the first two innings.

1-0 Cats, top of 3

Two errors in the top of the 3rd allow Alabama to tie. Maybe they need to be behind in the series to do well.

Gahhh! Hate that... Leaving the bases loaded is always a downer.

Tide get a man on 3rd with 1 out in top of 4, but Beggs with two strikeouts to end the inning. nice work.

Eggs just murdered the 6th inning. Two strikeouts and a 1 pitch flyball. Bottom of 6 1-1.

The feel for this game is not good. Beggs deserves a lot better support. Let's hope he isn't getting tired. That four pitch walk is worrisome.

Beggs is definitely a force. Great battle to get the 3rd out in the top of the 7th.

Another man stranded for UK, have to be close to 10 by now. Heading to top of 8 still tied at 1.

Lewis took the mound in the eighth and leaves one stranded, so we head to bottom of 8.

Ugh. Cats scratch across a run in the bottom of 8, but then Hjelle gives up a solo shot with 2 outs. 2-2 going to bottom of 9.

Well, that was fun. I love that call at the end. Finally, the bases loaded and someone delivers in spades. All the other batters left on are now forgotten and forgiven.

Mahan proving that it's the right call to leave him in even when the defense is dicey at times. Great swing, glad to see someone step up in the clutch. Now get the sweep!

Yes it was the right decision, he played a great SS last night, made an error today, but more than made up for that with the GS. Other players, Cottam, Shelby, Recks, White also played well.

Mahan would be one he'll of a player if he played average to above average defense. He has some surprise power that has come out in the clutch. Very proud of him even though I've been hard on him this year.

Question to see if you agree and I'm assuming it's coming from the coaches...why is he bunting three times today?

Hey guys, this is only my 2nd post, long time reader, what do you think of our chances in post season play ? I know we will probably be in the Sec Tournament for sure, but what about Ncaa post season ? TIA

Had to tell right now there is still a lot of games to be played, but I know that I'm one that is shocked with the way they we're playing earlier and I saw WKU embarrass them. Here's hoping they win tomorrow and take care of Otis on Wed... 18 conf. games left and big occ games with Otis (2) and at IU

I didn't get to see the game today so I'm not sure why Henderson was having Mahan bunt. However, considering that hits and runs have been at a premium this weekend he may have been trying to play small ball to get us a small lead and then use our pitching and defense to win. I'm fine with that strategy, but it has to be at appropriate times.

Welcome! Glad to have you posting. If the SEC ended today Kentucky would be in second place. That's definitely good enough to host a regional, which would be huge. So, we'd have home field advantage as a one seed. If Brown pitches like he did Friday then we would be hard to beat and that is something that Kentucky has struggled with in the past.

The scary thing is that you never know what you're going to get with this team.

Thanks for your response, I am very hopeful of getting a good spot in the Ncaa tournament. I remember when we had a great season 4or 5years ago, and got sent to Gary Indiana. We should have hosted a regional that year.

Was that 2012? We went 21 innings against Kent State in the opener and never recovered because we used up all our pitching.

Cody allowed a double to Cobie Vance, but should have been out of the inning as he got a routine ground ball to third base, but Shelby bounced the throw and White couldn't hold on. 1-0 Alabama.

One thing I'll add about postseason play. UK should be in pretty good position for tournament time but next week really starts the gauntlet of the SEC schedule with Vandy, Arkansas and South Carolina coming up so its hard to gauge what will happen. Id love to see a decent run in the SEC tournament.

The SEC is definitely going to get tougher for Kentucky. However, we also have at Auburn (3-9 SEC; 15-17 overall) and Missouri (4-8 SEC; 19-14 overall). The tough games are going to be at Ole Miss (6-6 SEC; 25-7 overall), Arkansas (4-8 SEC; 16-5 overall), South Carolina (10-2 SEC; 28-5 overall), and at Vanderbilt (7-5 SEC; 25-7 overall).

That is 18 more games for us. Let's say we don't sweep anyway. I think we could at least get the series from both Auburn and Missouri. So that would make us 12-6. After that, Arkansas is a winnable series, so we'll say we win that one since it is at home and we go to 14-7. That would leave us at 17-13.

That, I think would be our best case scenario. Of course, we could get swept and we could sweep some games, but this is playing it as middle of the road as it comes. That would put us at something like 6th in the SEC last season. It would be only the second time since Henderson has been head coach that UK has a winning SEC record.
