I have to say that when I initially saw his picture I was not that impressed, but in watching the video I was impressed with how well he got to the second level and how well he was able to go put a hat on someone. He got out there pretty quickly and he was physical when he had to put a body on someone. Couldn't tell a whole lot about how he will do in the passing game, but he definitely looks good in running situations. Not to mention that the kid is just a junior.

You need to know more about "who" he was playing against in these highlight films but I totally agree with your assessment. I did not get a sense his footwork was especially "fast" (need to see some foot drills) but it did seem very effective as he consistently got into and maintained contact. Also seemed to have a good "finish punch" and totally took some guys down late in the block. Also successfully combo-ed off a time or two. Definitely a prospect to keep a close eye on.

Peace

Ohh definitely. He is using his size and killing those kids which makes him look more impressive. I looked several times for kids similar to his size, but there weren't many. Still, I thought that he got out of his stance and into the second level pretty well. While he is bigger than most of those kids it is good that he is using his size and strength to hit those guys and seeks out that contact. A lot of times you'll see big guys that are playing smaller guys and still aren't really getting that big punch you mentioned. I don't know that he'll be some amazing prospect, but he definitely looks like a take as a guard.

Hard to tell from that video that he could be a tackle. He didn't really do much pass protection and when he did it was against a smaller and possibly even slower guy. Of course, for a guard, I'd like to see how well he pulls and things like that, but from what I could tell it seemed like he got out of his stance and to the second level pretty well, so you'd think that he'd be able to pull all right.

I actually think getting to the second level and finding someone to put a hat one was one of our problems last year. When I re-watched a lot of games I saw that a lot of the guards would get to the second level and miss the linebacker or not get there fast enough to get a hand on them, or not be able to get to the lead tackler (if that makes sense). I don't know that this kid will solve that problem. Maybe more experience will help that, but we'll see.

Exactly I still dont see why he is ranked as a tackle. He would be a better guard but he might surprise us.
