The program is back on track. It's early in the year and no need for the doom and gloom from some posters. Coach Pope had the guys ready tonight and brought home the win.

I wish we'd return to being top dog in the sec.

The playing field is more level than ever.

Any school in the sec could have good talent and compete against us.

I'd feel a lot better about the team, once they start sec play and get some of those games, especially away from rupp arena in the win column.

Let's put things in perspective. We won a game we should have and the way we should have.. Ken Williams is coming into his own, and Malachi was definitely a rim protector tonight. We still had nine turnovers with several were absolutely unforced that has to get better.. Trent Noah needs to work on his matador defense, but I love his hustle. Aberdeen continues to be steady as a rock and plays with great control and leads the team very well.. let's start we had in the second half cannot happen against a good team. I did like the focus on defense, especially the active hands and the way they moved with their feet

Louisville is 18-40 all time against UK lol.

How could they possibly be THAT bad.

Imagine having a son that’s like 15. He barely remembers losiville ever beating Kentucky. In his world, it’s an automatic loss. I’d be embarrassed to even take my son to those 4,000K attendance games. No brand college.

Yeah we beat a real powerhouse right there, remember before the Louisville game we beat the piss out of a nobody. I'll reserve judgement until after the North Carolina game, they'll be the first team with a pulse since the MSU blowout

We won big, but it wasn’t a big win. We’re off to a rough start, but throughout our history, these things tend to get corrected.
On a sidenote, if Louisville wins the next 20 games, the all-time record would be UK 40 and Louisville 38. At that point, it would actually be a rivalry. Until that time the cards are just little brother.
Never forget the UL motto: one on the dink and three in the stink

I’m not looking forward to that game. Wilson is gonna crush us FR. They play fast and we don’t guard.

It’s a good chance for us to make a statement but I’m not optimistic either. Feel like they’re on track to fully gel around conference or a few games into conference play.
A win would do a lot for the fan base and our confidence in them. Hopefully get them back on track. Whoever has issues go out back and fight and get it over with. Does this generation not know Bro’s before Ho’s?

I’m worried about whether Pope will work out as our coach but I’m going to make sure I’m more supportive. He’s a UK alumni and it’s obvious how much he cares about the program.

Trying to do the same. Not promising I won’t post “FIRE THIS POS” if we get down by 12 in the next game though lol

Hopefully, Pope figures it all out, not much else we can do but support for now

I am worried if he's cut out for it. In past years I'd say let give it a lot of time. Now it's different I think. You have to produce and do it quick. It's hard place to cut your teeth at. Let's start with better sub patterns. I'm supporting that lol.

Sub patterns are one of the worst parts. Need to get down to a 9 man rotation. I still think Pope can fix it, but the defense remains a concern. Not a good trend though. I do look at teams like Purdue that lost 12 games last year but returned all those guys and looks like a title favorite this year as the template I want to see for us if we struggle to get all the way there. Pope’s going to get a third year no matter what.

Yes a third year will happen. As it should unless something egregious happens. But if we lose say 3/4 of our big OOC coming up then it will get really really ugly.

Yeah, but you don't win championships playing only JV teams. Come out of fantasy land and watch the replays of Georgetown, Louisville, and Michigan State and see if you feel the same way.

In the pre-NIL era, I’d agree. But if boosters and former players with ties to the program make a fuss then it wouldn’t shock me if Pope resigns this year after a few nudges from behind the scenes.

But it’ll come down to where we are. A total collapse as in he fails to make the tournament makes it more likely. But he still has time to turn things around, even if he loses all his big out of conference games. If he does well in the SEC, wins the SEC tournament, makes a deep run in the NCAA tournament, then a lot of early misgivings we have can vanish in the blink of an eye. No one discusses the turmoil from the 2011 or 2014 regular seasons because they made the Final Four those years.
