If you haven't seen this I think it's worth a look, He has since apologized for the article. I have been a little confused about his play this year as well? Some of the things he is doing are just mind numbing to me? The clips in this article are very telling. I hope the young man hasn't packed it in this year already as that is not exactly what you are looking for in a team captain.

That is the first I've seen of the Daniel Davie one. That was terrible! I was on the Gerry Hype train pre season, but he took Davie out of that play on purpose. What the hell for?

I'm a harsh critic of the kid, but I'm not sure we can derive he did anything intentional to sabotage Davie on that play. Sometimes bad things just happen.

He extended his arm and pushed him... He was looking at Davie the whole time, not the defender! It's clear as day

Glad that he apologized.

Calling out an amateur athlete in this fashion is just plain bush league.

I agree with you on that point... I am in no way saying he is trying to do bad things on purpose it's just hard to watch those 3 clips and not wonder what the hell he is doing? I mean this is a kid that was talked about as an All Big Ten player this year? Just confusing to me is all.

Yep. Apologized. Said he crossed the line. But continued to leave the article up. Because he's a bush league blogger hoping to get some clicks. And he did.

Who cares? I mean really? Who cares? We could consider message board posters bloggers. Why even worry about it?

In all fairness, he isn't looking at Davie. He is looking back for the ball. He took a bad angle and when he turned his head to look for the receiver again, he was already on top of Davie. His arm pushing Davie was nothing more than natural arm swing when running and reaction to the collisions. It is a bone-headed play, but not an intentional sabotage of the play. At least that is how I see it.

Completely agree with this.

It is garbage journalism and his "apology" was weak. Yes, we all agree Gerry is having a rough season - likely related to a change in system as much as anything. I think it's garbage to insinuate that anyone out there playing isn't playing to win. They may not be 100% bought in to the new system, but I don't think it's fair for anyone to suggest that anyone isn't trying.

I was not trying to say he was doing anything on purpose... It's just so strange for me to see him playing like this after what he has shown in the past. In no way believe that he is doing anything negative on purpose and I don't agree with the article AT ALL. Just thought it was telling in those clips that we just aren't there yet with the understanding of the system, but it was not great to see him and Maurice standing there as the pile is moving 5 yards downfield either, that is not what you want a captain to be doing.

This is a terrible accusation. The plays look weird but I just cannot believe a player would do this to his teammates intentionally.

Your statement is incorrect, and a dumb thing to imply.

I see it differently then you, and think your post is dumb for thinking your opinion is fact... so F*** off

Disagree fine, other than that stfu
So...Just for the record, you are implying that a Husker football player is intentionally making errors in an effort to lose the game. Is that right?

The writer should have left it alone. Gerry is a college kid, I have been concerned about Gerry's play this season. He seems to be out of position a lot. Shows up late for a play and falls down quite a bit. He also has been juked out of his shoes on head to head tackles. He is good tackling laterally or from behind, but gets caught flat-footed
when facing straight up to a shifty runner

I think Gerry is not living up to his captaincy, let's just leave it at that!

there is no way Gerry did that with purposeful intent .... the much simpler and plausible solution is that his play just isn't very good ... his play has been poor all year long

I was told he requested Athlon to remove the article at/around the same time he publicly apologized. Not sticking up for Cav, I think he's done some good work over the years - and some back work too - just setting the record straight on your claim. I don't know how their site works but I find it hard to believe a blogger/writer (not sure what he's considered) has the ability to pull an article on their own.

Maybe someone more familiar can clarify.

Blankman should have never posted it in the first place. Time to move out of mom's basement and into the real word.

Hatchet job by someone who has never walked the walk, like many fans.
