OG vs Salibury: the biggest game this week will pit Salisburys defense against Oak Groves offensive line. Should be a great matchup with a huge crowd coming from all over. It could go either way but I will take OG in a lower scoring game. Maybe 14-10 or 21-17 or so.

ND vs Tville: North will have to play well to fend off the Bulldogs. Tville speed could be dangerous and give North D some problems. I expect a higher scoring game in this one with North pulling it out in the end around 35-31.

Ledford vs CD: once again Ledford seems to have a good defense and that should get them by CD by 2 or 3 TDs.

WD vs South Rowan: I think West is a little bit better than SR this year. Could be a close one.

ED vs Lexington: ED will get an opportunity for a win this week but will they pull it off? Lexington is faster but they need to score some points. Something has to give, I'll go out on a limb and pick ED but could go either way.

What do you think gents?

I agree with your picks. Just hope my Bulldogs can keep it that close.

I’ll take Oak Grove in a mid-range scoring affair. I like 32-28

North is down this year, but there are still too many tools, which will wear Thomasville out near the end of the game. North wins 28-17.

Ledford will again expose Central’s offense, or lack thereof. Ledford won’t score as much as some who have played them though. Final, Ledford 28, Central 7.

West will have trouble containing the option game of South Rowan. The QB is quick and is quite elusive. West’s passing game is their key to success this week. Too tight too call. South Rowan wins by 3.

East Davidson will beat the quickly dying Yellowjackets. They’ve lost 3 kids to transfer so far and word is that another starter will leave soon. East has to start quick or their tendency to fade late in the game will bite them. I’ve got East winning. 21-7.

This is a MUCH more interesting week coming up. Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out!

The issue I see for Tville is they may tire out late in the game. I think it will be a good one. You guys have a good coach and I'm sure he will have your kids ready.

OG-Salisbury: Too close to call, hope OG gets a win. OG is big and smashes people with the RB and makes the occasional big play. Salisbury is a different kind of fast and uses that to their advantage to swarm to the ball and will cover the OG recievers up. Comes down to the OG OL vs Hornet DL and which one makes the most consistent plays.

ND-THS THS pulls out the win with athletic plays. ND is way down from where they have been. Bulldogs have the athletic advantage, ND has a numbers advantage. #9, #5, #22 and #24 from THS have big nights and the Dogs beat ND 24-17 in a close one.

WD-SR: West is built to smash teams upfront . SR runs an offense they do not have athletes to win consistently with. West wins 28-14.

LHS-CD: Ledford stops the CD double wing and puts up several big plays to put the game away. Leford 35-12.

ED-Lex: ED has a chance but cannot stop speed and Lexington will find a way to exploit that weakness. "If" the Cunningham kid that was CCC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 at THS is on the field, he beats ED by himself with minimal blocking. This is ED's only chance at a win, so they better not give up like they did last week once they get behind.

I agree with all this, I wish Cunningham would have stayed put Ive never heard why he transferred but someone told me he was academically ineligible. He is a good kid and looked so good in Bulldog Red.

Well, academically ineligible doesn’t go away by transferring, so it can’t be that.

Personally I can't imagine going from being a Bulldog, or a Knight to being a Jacket. But I'm sure the family had their reasons.

Not the reason he transferred, from what I heard is the reason he isnt wearing blue and orange.

Ahhhh... I follow you now. I didn’t realize that he wasn’t playing...

This is a weird time in high school football... I’m seeing people transfer mid-year... people trying to transfer...
I don’t recall hearing about much of this in DavidsonCo/Lexington/Thomasville schools in years past.

I don't know why he transferred either but I was also told by someone that he was academically ineligible. I'm not following your statement above, is he gonna be playing this year for the Yellow Jackets or not? I saw on another thread that he may be eligible to play this week against ED.

If a player is ineligible to play academically, using the state’s rules, that would be decided at the end of each semester (June and January). There is no way off of that list during the football season. Only winter sports can become eligible mid-season.

The only case in which a football player can become eligible mid-season if there is a specific coach that has a more strict academic policy that he imposes on his team an his team only. In that case, a player could be reinstated since it has nothing to do with the NCHSAA’s guidelines.

I can’t think of a single coach that does that though.

His family legitimately moved their residence due to something that had nothing to do with the school or sports. I’ll stay out of the eligibility issue.

He was not showing on Lexington’s roster earlier on MaxPreps. He’s now listed with jersey number 1.

Not football related. But anyone want to weigh in on the softball coach at north getting fired this week?

Article in the dispatch today says he is playing this week against ED.

Might wanna lean towards Lexington now... One player doesn't make a team but he IS better than anyone I saw on the East roster. Best of luck to both teams, somebody's finally gonna get a conference win. (Or win period in EDs case)

Assuming he replaces the starting RB, he’s replacing the team captain. That whole dynamic may play into how Lexington plays.

I was told today he played last week. Not sure if true or not. I still think game is a toss up. Depends on who scores first in opinion. East put their heads down last week when the Dogs got up. That has always fallen on the coaches shoulders. I watched the Dogs do that in recent years. You would have never seen a Brown coached team do that.

Didn’t see his name in Dispatch accounts of any game this year. Hard to believe he played and wasn’t a factor.

OG- Salisbury hasn’t proved they can score it seems. This will be the most physical Offense Salisbury has seen this year, so this will be a good battle. OG pulls out a tough one.

ND- As much I want THS to win, ND wins this one. Depth is big. Watching both ND & THS, ND is a better overall team.

West- I would hate to have to watch this one.

Lexington- Another one I would hate to watch. Lexington speed will be too much for East.

Ledford- Ledford Defense is physical and will handle CD offense, who I would like to say, is very over hyped.

Wow East beats Lexington! Things is going south fast over there.
Also THS beats ND. ND in fear of missing the playoffs now. I said in a thread earlier this year, ND beating THS and Central would determine their playoffs hopes. I said they couldn’t afford losing to either one of them. I asked if they get to 6 wins. Now should we worried about them getting to 5?
OG beat a very good Salisbury teams. The score don’t do the game any justice. Oak Grove is one game closer to CCC champs in 2nd year. But, I think Ledford has what it takes to beat OG.
West put up some big Numbers.

Cunningham ran back a punt and scored at least one touchdown for Lexington.
The rumor is that the state allowed him to play after sitting out five games.

Cunningham is the only offense that Lexington had. The game shouldn't have been as close as it was, if it wasn't for very conservative play calling by the East coach, East could have won by probably 2 TDs or more. The coach literally calls the same 5 plays and was afraid to throw the ball down deep in his own territory when he needed a 1st down. Also, East was missing 2 starters on offense including their best offensive player #4 Wright who plays RB and WR. If he would have played, East would have won big. Congrats to East for pulling out the win.

lexington is bad, but Cunningham is still the best RB in the county.
You’re probably right, though I haven’t seen Shewcow. Unfortunately, talent will only take you so far. Thomasville has a long history of great running backs who have illustrated that.
