Hey all, Bert's celebration of life is set for February 21st at Bert's daughters house.

682 Cameron Ridge rd
Shepherdsville, KY 60165

Had the funeral yesterday in Smiths Grove, he was buried right next to his grandson, Owen, who would have turned 19 today.

Hope some of you can make it.

FYI, UK plays @ Auburn that day, the game will be showing on every tv in the house. should be a good time.

Hope the Cats pull it out in honor of Bert. Maybe he can send us some good luck from above.

Sorry to be asking this but was he a long time poster here? My condolences to the family. Lost a close family friend this past Saturday to a blood clot. You just never know…
Yes. He was a great dude too. Former mayor of Smiths Grove. Would talk to you about the civil war or UK basketball. You could even call him up on the phone. And ask him, and off he'd go.

Yup, you nailed it.
Also, he was very close to the UK basketball program in the 70's. He has a scrapbook of the 78 season, signed by Joe B. He used to go on recruiting trips too.
But the thing that blew me away, is seeing pictures of Joe B at his house with Bert's 2 kids sitting on his lap.
Can you imagine the head basketball coach at UK hanging at your house like that? That is so cool.
Bert was a no nonsense guy. He was going to say what was on his mind, whether you liked it or not.
He accomplished a lot in his life, he was definitely satisfied.

I've posted this before, GOD and Bert helped me get through the worst part of my life with the loss of our grandson! I could pray to GOD for help and talk to Bert for support and advice! He didn't sugar coat anything, told me what I needed to hear!!!
He should know how to talk with someone in your position, he lost his grandson 10 years ago. I believe Owen was 6 when it happened. Car accident. Absolutely devastating.

That was exactly Bert's persona on this board. He told it like it was but did so in the right way. Prayers for his family and the community. Bert will be greatly missed by all.

That would be freaking awesome. Sounds like a great life to me.

Wow, I’ve been away from Rivals for a while and just got my account back after all of the changes but sad to hear this.

Me and Bert sparred on several topics going back to 2009, but at the end of the day, I had a mutual respect for him. Sometimes, we have to realize there are real people behind the screen names.

My condolences to his family and friends 🙏🏾
